Although there is no official and widely accepted ranking of dental schools, you can gauge them by how competitive the qualifications of the accepted students and how well they later do on the dental board exam and how many are accepted into residencies of their choice.

You can stop by a book store and check out Barron's top medical and dental schools for a detailed list of all the average GPA's, DAT scores, etc. This will give you an idea, but of course just statistics does not paint the entire picture. You should also contact the school and find out more about their facilities, curriculum, clinical experience, etc.

You can also find out how much research money the school gets, which also helps determine the best schools. But in the end, you have to see which school is best for you, not necessarily best in the country. Location of the school, # of students, etc should be considered when looking at schools.

As others have noted, there are no rankings for dental schools.
