This is my first post, so bear with me.

I just decided this past week to consider optometry after completing my junior year at university. With that said, I know very little about the school's reputations and requirements.

As of now, I have a 3.6 GPA but have about 30 credits of pre-requisites left. I've got a job shadow lined up for the summer and I've done volunteer work at a pre-school, ran lacrosse clinics, and helped out at Relay for Life. I haven't taken the OAT obviously, so that's a big question mark.

Let's say my GPA dips to a 3.3 after I deal with the pre-reqs and my OAT scores are "average" for applicants- let's just say 330's. With this basic resume, which schools would be in the realm of possibility for me?

Also, I'm from the Northwest, so PUCO is a school I'm interested in. In the long term, I hope to use my skills to help people in developing countries- I'm graduating with an anthropology degree, so my yearning for cross-cultural experience has placed IAUPR at the top of my list. What would my chances be of being admitted in either of these schools?

Also, what deficiencies to you all see in what I've mentioned so far? Are those community service opportunities sufficient, or should I look for a bigger project?

Ha, I feel like I should have found that a lot sooner.

Another question- would it be advantageous at a school like PUCO, which only had 21 in-state applicants, if I were a resident of Oregon? I've noticed people mention preferential treatment based on residency but I haven't seen anything specifically about Pacific.
