I've heard some of you talking about getting partial and full scholarships from certain schools. I was just wondering what schools offer these types of scholarships (Nova or UF?), what they base it on (need based?), and if it can be renewed? Also, if there are any good websites to go to for this kind of information, or any other scholarships available. I'm getting concerned about all of the debt I will accumulate because my family doesn't exactly support my choice of dentistry and has already told me not to expect any money from them. 🙁

This is totally school dependent. There are a couple types usually: academic based, need based, service based (offer to practice in a certain area after graduation), and organization based. Contact each school directly for further info 🙂.

that's too bad... let me guess... your family wanted you to be an MD and were dissapointed when you announced you were going to be "just a dentist" 😡

You never know, they might just be anti-dentites. :scared:

so i know that some schools offer a scholarship along with the acceptance letter to attract certain applicants. i was wondering if schools ever offer a scholarship after you have already sent your deposit? for example, if they find that some of the people that they offered scholarships to decline the offer, would they then give the scholarship to the next highest qualified applicant even if they have already sent a deposit? or in keeping with the theme of attracting people, would they offer it to a not as highly qualified applicant that hasn't sent a deposit yet or is just being accepted?

i know of someone who got into Upenn. a few weeks later, she got a scholarship, even before she sent a deposit.

but does anyone know if you can get offered a scholarship after sending your deposit? like if the people that got offered them originally decline, would it go to the next highest qualified even if they already put in a deposit?
