SGU!
I'm not doing a Caribbean school. So I'm looking for recommendations other than that. I am also applying DO, but would prefer MD.SGU!
Then DO or retake are your optionsI'm not doing a Caribbean school
If you're from a fortunate state such as FL, where FSU averages your MCAT, then you're in luck. If not, a 505 is indeed difficult for MD schools. Unless you are URM/LGBTQ, that matters too.505 composite, Chem, bio, psych were all good. 122 in CARS

I'd be happy to experiment for 4 years if it meant securing an acceptance 🙂

Not URM/LGBTQ. But am non traditional with unique experiences and full-time biopharma job.
Well 505 isn't too absurdly low. If you're GPAs are good and your non-trad experiences are solid you can try and apply broadly, IMO. But a retake if this cycle doesn't work out could be in order. Not URM/LGBTQ. But am non traditional with unique experiences and full-time biopharma job.
I'd be MUCH more worried about the 122 CARS than the 505 overall(which can work at a number of lower tiers with a strong overall app)
There was a thread last week about can you get into verbal with a 7. Consensus was its possible but rather difficult. Gonnif directly said that would be essentially an automatic reject at many schools and a huge red flag at most if not all.
A 505 isn't even a 7. We are talking 6 territory. It is rather rare that kind of subsection will work for MDs. Even those with very strong apps with 6's on a verbal will in a large number of cases be out of luck. And yes, there will be schools that screen out a 6(and no they many won't tell you explicitly). A 6 in verbal can work for DO's with an otherwise solid app.
But if you aren't applying this cycle and want the MD a re-take absolutely needs to be in order.

According to this: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/thr...centile-comparison-conversion-tables.1143689/ a 122 is between 5-6. That puts your other scores around 127-128, which is converted to around 10-11. To be honest, your chances are very low for MD schools (unless you're from a lucky state). Not sure how bad a 5-6 verbal is for DO schools. but a 505 is competitive for DO schools.
