Hey all,

So as this cycle winds down, I've found myself with 3 post interview holds and 1 alternate list. I feel like my chances of getting in are looking pretty bleak so I've started to look into applying again.

This would mean applying for a third time. I've noticed on Loyola's website that they discourage 3rd time applicants so I was wondering is indicative to most medical schools? Or would I just have to check with each school individually?

My stats for those who are interested:

MCAT: 29 (P: 9, V: 10, B: 10)
GPA: 3.6
BCPM GPA: 3.4
Experience:
- 3 years EMT
- 1.5 years free clinic volunteer
- 2 years research, with 2nd author publication
- medical mission to South America
- currently working in a lab at a university doing clinical research

Thanks!

Where are you applying? Are you applying early and broadly and to DO schools as well? Loyola is a pretty upper tier school for a 29 MCAT and only a 3.6. You have solid DO stats, for sure.

Also, have you had people on the forum go over your personal statement? What about secondaries? Additionally, what has changed from the first app to the second app?

Some schools cap you at three applications in a lifetime. If you aren't accepted, you may never reapply. Some schools will take your money every year until you get in or give up...

Do you have shadowing? While your other extracurriculars look good, missing shadowing experience is a pretty big. You have to really be able to sell that you know what you're getting yourself into. The EMT experience and clinic volunteering are great, but they're not the same thing a physician does.

Sorry I can't answer the three-time applicant thing, but I just want to make sure you have the shadowing thing covered before you reapply.

Albert Einstein does not allow 3rd time applicants.
