You're right.

This topic has been covered ad nauseam in various threads. I take it from the other threads you've started, that you don't bother to use the search option. 🙄 🙄

I want your opinion on this. If you're waitlisted at your #1 school, after May 15th, this school finds out where you've gotten into. Do you think the school looks positively/negatively on you if you have 5 other acceptances? Sometimes I see many acceptances hurt an applicant's chance of getting off the waitlist. It is easy to understand when the AdComm thinks "dude, this guy has 5 other acceptances. He's gonna be a dr anyway. Let's give our space to someone who needs it"

I thought we can not hold more than one acceptance after May 15.

actually, there were some threads last year on this and the consensus was that schools see your acceptances in mid to late february. FWIW.

I would call AMCAS and see if you can get this info.

nah sdnstud, I'm sure schools look at things with a little reason. I personally think this area is sometimes stretched out too much by applicants. Schools may not even look or care where else you've gotten into to. They just follow there own personal processes and try to leave out other headaches or variables if they can.

But in general, the more the acceptances, the more 'others' confirm of your ability to be a great doc. And hence, the more you become attractive. At least that's how I would interpret numerous acceptances.

At UMich they said that mid-March all schools that you have been accepted to will find out to which other schools you have been accepted. They can then try to be competitive with financial aid packages, depending on with whom they are competing over you. He didn't say whether or not they find out at which schools you have been waitlisted or rejected. I don't know if the March thing is through AMCAS, but I don't know how else the schools would know to get in touch with each other. Everyone in the room seemed shocked when he mentioned this, but he said he wanted everyone to know how the process works.

does this mean the more acceptance you get, the more valuable you become and the more $$$ you receive? In that case, I should fork out some dough to attend more interviews!!!

So if you have just one acceptance, the school's financial aid people have a free ticket to screw you in the arse grants wise? That sucks.

That is kind of how I took it when I heard that. That is why I was wondering if I should really tell one school at this stage that I would attend it accepted...would they then not feel the need to give me a better offer? Of course otherwise I don't know if I'll get in at all so maybe it is a toss-up.

I heard the date schools find out is may 15th. Is it really true that they find out in march.
