Following Henna's advice I thought I might start a new thread about schools that don't offer the Advanced Placement program anymore (they did before). 🙁

The following schools are listed in the ADA booklet "Dentistry in the US: Education and Licensure", 2002 edition. They are listed under the schools that accept foreign graduates with Advanced Standing. But when I visited their websites, they state that they don't offer such program anymore, but they won't say the reasons. 😕 🙁

University of Connecticut
Lousiana State University
University of Michigan
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Maybe someone around here knows the reason these schools are closing.
Does anyone else knows more schools closing such program?
Are there any other schools not listed in the ADA booklet, that actually offer the advanced placement program?

Hopefully someone has more information about this, 🙁 😕

I had no idea that these schools( esp temple, Lousiana) had stopped the program, hope no one applied them and wasted the application fee on such a lost cause.

i think lousiana will consider an advanced standing student if he/she is a resident of lousiana😀 ,as for north carolina at chapel hill an international student has to go thro all the 4 years............

No offense, but if I had to start over and apply to a 4 year program, I think I'll probably apply to a much nicer place to live. 😎 😀

BTW, U of Florida is just like that. You need to go 4 years again if you want a DDS degree. 🙄

Yes, I just went to Temple's website. They also closed our so needed program. 😡 whatever....

Temple uvty[PA] is still offering Adv standing programme,even though the website says otherwise.one of my friends called the Uvty and they said so.they even gave the link for the application.
That is what i heard but you can call them and know for sure.
do pardon me if i got it wrong.....

Yes, they are. BUT you need BOTH part 1 and 2. I just called and that's the first thing they told me.

Thanks dentek, still was good to know and leaves open a new possibility for next year.

Thank you for your interest in pursuing advanced standing dental education at Temple University School of Dentistry. The admissions process for the Advanced Standing Program is highly selective. Your application for entry into the third academic year program will be considered upon receipt of the following materials:

1. Application fee - $30 money order payable to Temple University
2. Letter of intent
3. Completed application
4. Official copies of transcripts and certificates
5. Part I and Part II National Dental Board Examination scores
6. Credential Evaluation Report from the Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.
***(Must request course by course analysis. For more info. contact www.ece.org)
7. Results of a TOEFL, if English is not the native language - Minimum
580 (paper based) or 237 (computer based)
8. Two letters of recommendation written within one year.
-One letter from the Dean of your school
-One letter from a professional contact
9. A completed Dental Experience Summary Form

Please send all application materials in one packet. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

All application materials must be received by January 31, 2003.
