Schools require photo?

Do a lot of schools require that you send in a photo? I'm trying to decide how many pictures to order. Anyone have the list of schools that do require a photo?

I suggest using a passport photo software (about $10). You can get six 2x2 pics from a single 4x6 print which may cost you around 20 cents per print.

All of them do (either they will ask for it with your secondary, or you bring it to your interview).

All of mine did. I printed a scanned photo on photo paper and just made more copies as I needed them.

If you're applying to USF, they actually take your picture during the day of the interview, "just in case" you get accepted there. I was not required to bring a picture. So there, that's at least one school that doesn't require photos.

With this passport photo software, do you just upload a picture from your computer onto it?

I didn't use any passport photo s/w. Good old photoshop does the trick.

I use the photo software from onthegosoft.com. You download it and install it on your computer. It automatically formats a 4x6 picture to contain six 2x2 photos with borders for easier cutting (you can still change the settings), which you can upload to a photo center such as Walmart's or Walgreens, or just print it yourself.

You can also just take a picture of yourself with a solid background and go to walmart/walgreens/etc and use their kodak machine to make passport photos...easy and VERY cheap...like 1 sheet with 6 photos is like 30 cents

That's much better.

Many, if not most of them will ask for one. As another poster said, this is usually with the secondary or at the interview. To be safe, count on getting one photo for each secondary you plan on completing. If you have any extras left at the end, you can give them to friends. =)

There is no need to spend money. Take a photo with a digital camera or scan one that you already have. Print this out, and mail the pictures. You can use photo paper or even regular paper if needed.

It's probably cheaper and more professional to just get them done at one of those kiosks in the mall than to print them yourself.... Unless you are way too lazy to leave your house.

I have left my house in a few days.

Of course I'm taking the USMLE tomorrow.

Most of my schools required pics in their secondaries. I picked out a nice picture of me in my digital camera, made 20 copies of it at Walmart and then cut and pasted them on. It wasn't too bad.

Most schools want your photo because they have some verification techniques that not too many know about. Most of you don't know what I'm talking about, so don't worry about it.

everyone knows what you're talking about.

What do you wear in the picture? Just a nice button up shirt or jacket and tie?

the photo is for interviewing to make it easy for them to pick you out of a crowd of nervous, suited up applicants. also, when i interviewed at michigan, they gave each of us contact info with photos on top so we could remember/ write each other and hold hands about how it went.

schools with photos part of secondary:

columbia
WashU
UCSD
Michigan
UCSF (optional)

UCLA (after interview invite)
Harvard HST (after interview invite)

anyone feel free to append to my list

I used the photo you see at the left.

I have no clue if this helped me or hurt me. 😀

Yikes....did you get any comments about it during interviews?

thes_hunter said:
Nope. Why is it bad? 😕

nah...it's a good pic...but I thought it was supposed to be real professional-like....facing forward with a buttom up shirt on, etc....but I guess if the schools didn't say anything...it's all gravy! 😀

I look like crap in photos like that. I normally do not photograph well. This is a favorable photo of me. So I thought I would put my best face forward if you will. 😉
