Hey, I was just wondering which physical therapy programs accept the higher grade for repeated courses. I know most graduate programs take the average grade of two courses but I wanted to know if anyone knew if any school took the higher grade? I believe Utica does but are there any others?

As far as I know, pretty much all of them take the higher grade. When PTCAS calculates your grade they add everything in, even if you retook the course. When most PT schools get your application they reconfigure your GPA and usually throw out the lower of the grades. At least that is what they say they do...

I agree with this. Most schools replace the lower grade with the higher one when they do their own GPA calculations. This info is usually on their PTCAS page

MMm.. I dont know about all of them. Since i was bordering with a 2.93 (PTCAS) or 3.1 (highest grade), I called/researched most schools and there were a lot of schools that took average (at least that is what they told me). Some schools that I applied to that took the highest were: University of Mary, University of the Incarnate Word, Loma Linda, Western, University of Saint Augustine, and Arkansas State University.

I actually just graduated as a biology major from Stony Brook University with an overall GPA 2.75 :/ My science GPA is even lower.

Im getting recommendations to either repeat some courses at a local community college, or take graduate courses (non-matriculated) and do well there. Which would you recommend?

If I pull a solid GRE score and get above a 3.5 at a community college for 2 semesters of repeated courses, do I have a chance of being accepted?

Most schools will take the higher of the two grades, even though PTCAS only takes the average. I'm not sure why because this scares a lot of applicants who need every point they can get. If you're overall and pre-req GPA's are >3.5, then yes you do have a chance. Do everything you can to get a total score of 300 or more on the GRE. Re-take all those classes at your local CC and save money.
