Schools that accept out-of-state students.

I have decided to scrounge my pennies together and add a few schools to my AMCAS now that I have been verified. Could you kindly reccomend schools that you know accept quite a few out-of-state applicants. Information on how competitive you have to be would also be useful. Not that I am uncompetitive, it's just that I am trying to increase my odds of being accepted and ivies aren't going to do that for me. Thanks for your help.

Well, aside form private schools, there is a caveat to applying to out-of-state schools ( those non- Utah entities, I take it). If you look at their selection factors, most of them require some sort of tie to their state or they have a defined cut off for numbers before they will take your app into consideration (3.5+/30+). That being said, you can have a look at these schools---

Alabama 20 or so spots
UCSF 30 or so
Illinois 25 or so
Indiana 20 or so
Iowa 30 or so
Wayne St 25 or so
U Mn 20 or so
UNC 20 or so
Ohioi St 40 or so
UTSW-Dallas 20 or so
UVa 40 or so

I bet there are more as the applicant numbers and their demographics change yearly. But heres a few I could think of.... all alphabetized by state. I got this from an old MSAR I have, but if you ask any of our fellow SDN'ers who are currently at one of these schools or parts elsewhere, I'm sure they could be of more assistance... happy spending

I'd recommend UVA also, I was out of state and interviewed there. It's a great place and they were very receptive to out of staters, except in regards to financial status😉
