Do you guys know any schools that don't ask about misdmeanors on the secondary application? thanks.

i think most schools will end up running a background check on you if you get accepted anyway.

that's fine if they ask later, i just don't wanna mention it now...i think it would hurt my chances for an interview, plain and simple. I don't think it would be a problem later, but i don't want to be discriminated against because i know i will be.

so, any answers? i am sure plenty of people have gotten secondaries back, and since i haven't applied yet, i'd like to konw in advance. thanks.

Honestly, I only remember the felony question in my secondaries thusfar.

If you want to go to medical school and if you have some dirt on your record for something stupid that you did, i wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure you wouldn't be the first to answer "yes" to one of those questions and i think as long as you explain everything that you'll end up fine if everything else is in check. Most of the schools ask for some sort of record or dean's report on disciplinary action.

could you just please name the schools that didn't ask?

look, i know that a misdemeanor is not a big deal to you guys, but it is to me. so please, i am not looking for advice, just the names of schools that don't ask. just check your secondaries, it would really help me out...thanks again.

If I wanted people to help me out and answer my questions then I would be nice to them rather than being rude... But that's just me...

i really didn't mean to be rude. but i just want the answer to my question, not posts telling me not to worry about it, as i am worrying about it and will not stop until i have been accepted.

i apologize if you were offended, but i was trying to be direct, not curt or rude.

Ok...I'm going through copies of my secondaries. I can't guarantee the accuracy of this information, but here are schools where I don't see this question being asked:

Baylor, Columbia, NYU, Penn State, SUNY Downstate, Temple (only asks about felony convictions), Tufts, Tulane, U of Cinn

Schools that asked: Georgetown, GW (legal violations other than minor traffic violations), JHU (criminal offense convictions), MCW (criminal convictions), Rush (criminal convictions), Saint Louis (criminal convictions), UCSD (criminal convictions), Yale (criminal offense)

Not going into to much length, I have filled out ~10 secondaries thus far and I am guessing 7 of them asked about offenses other than traffic or something to that effect. Fessin up to an underage drinking ticket has become somewhat fun and entertaining.

thanks! that was nice of you!

does anybody have any more, as i don't think i'm applying to jhu, yale, or ucsd like this hotshot. 🙂

Rochester, Chicago, Tulane, Pitt, and NYMC do not ask about misdemeanors. I have a similar situation, but Im not letting a question about convictions deter me from applying to places that I would really like to attend.I dont think it will be a tremendous deal. Honesty goes a long way. Don't stress out too much. Sometimes s@it happens and you just have to move on. Good luck to you.

Creighton, UCSF, UCI, Northwestern, and UCD don't ask! Also I think that U Penn doesn't ask either. I was worried about this as well at first, but then realized that it may not matter at all. I will certainly know by the end of this process though, and I am curious to see if I don't get interviews at some of these schools. It's worth the risk for a shot at some really great schools like Yale and Wash U.

Good Luck!

agreed. however, there's a good chance the old b*tch probably deserved it and he could put a positve twist on it in his PS. in any case, i was thinking that he could get a good LOR from his probation officer. adcoms love that type of thing.

well i dont think it matters when they find out. as long as it wasnt something malicious i dont think it will hurt you much. maybe it might help you get an interview, but if they are considering accepting you and something comes up that they did not know about that might make them more hesistant in taking you.

another thing is there are more schools that ask than don't ask. apply to the schools you want to attend and if you get interviews you will be able to explain yourself so that you can erase any doubts the schools might have.

but of course, regardless of what i say, you will do what makes you feel best.

I don't know which are top 25, but here are more that didn't ask: Medical College of Ohio, Penn State, NYU, USC, and I'm pretty sure that Temple and NYMC didn't ask.

Did ask: Ohio State, Med College of Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Wash U, George Washington, Vermont, Dartmouth, Einstein, St. Louis, Tufts, Univ of Virginia, UCSD, Standford. 🙁

Hope this helps

you mean Chicago as in the University of Chicago Pritzker doesn't ask...or the Chicago Medical School?

Most schools didn't ask, a couple did...only one asked if you were even charged MCW

Sorry if any of these are repeats:
Drexel: felonies only
Boston University: none
Emory: anything other than minor traffic violations
UPitt: felony or prison time
Temple: felonies only
MCG: anything other than minor traffic violations
Jefferson: anything other than minor traffic violations

Hope that helps a little! 🙂
