Hey all!!! I was reading through that thread about asking an adcom member questions and I happened to see that the Belmont admission member suggested that people be more aware of each school and how much they emphasize having a bachelors vs non-bach.

I was unsure of what schools around the nation don't place a huge emphasis on it (I read on that thread that he knew a school where only 20% had a BSc). ... If I don't get into pharm school this next year, I'll be working towards it, but was curious none-the-less.

Any help is appreciated!

I'll be applying to

wayne
ferris
lipscomb
hawaii
shenandoah
wingate
XXX?

I appreciate it again =)

The last few Mercer classes have been right about 50:50 bachelors to not.

In the 07/08 cycle, my school (Campbell) accepted 7 sophomores, 29 juniors, and 12 seniors. 60 others had degrees.

Cali schools tend to put a LOT more weight on 4 year degrees. In general, the west coast has a high regard for BA/BS.

Hawaii, being a newer school, will likely be more lenient. I cannot speak to the other schools.

A really good way to find out a definitive answer is to ask this question to the Admissions office at each school. It has a double benefit of you opening a dialogue with each school - Which is INCREDIBLY important, as it is a major factor that separates you from the 1000 other applicants to the school.

Yeah I wonder where these stats even exist. You could try looking at admissions statistics for each school. Or you could just call them and ask for some general numbers. My friend got into a school which pretty much required a bachelors without one. The best way to do this obviously is to have glowing stats.

Here at Husson University, www.husson.edu/pharmacy, we do not put an emphasis on having a degree prior to admission, however about 50% of those applying do have one. If you did well on the PCAT and have a good solid GPA it should not matter if you have the undergrad degree.

Thanks everyone! =) Yeah, I'm a little nervous since I don't have my BSc, so I really want to focus on schools that seem to be ~50/50 with/without. 🙂

🙄

Anyone nervous for the admissions process to begin?

For Wayne State, having a bachelors is pretty important(mainly for being competitive). When I was interviewed by them, they even asked me whether I was getting my degree or not. So with that being said, you should apply first without the degree-just to see where it takes you...if it doesn't work out, then when you apply with the degree you'll incr your chances of getting in...

Are you in state??? =)

I'll be applying to pharmacy school without a degree and I'm quite nervous. I figured if I don't get in I'll just come back to finish my BS in Chemical Biotechnology.

I applied to my schools without a degree and got in...although i was a junior...

Anyway, look at their websites, some schools specifically say "prefer students with a degree." I remember seeing that on Tennessee's website.
