I know that top schools have very high median MCATs and GPAs, but I keep seeing references to schools that seem to really value high stats over other metrics, such as ECs, etc., but have never seen a comprehensive list of them. Is this even true, and, if so, which schools would this apply to? It goes with saying that everyone needs to have a base level of the expected ECs, along with clearly evidenced motivation to become a MD, but is it true that a school such as, for example, WashU, really values stats more than a school such as Penn, or Hopkins?

Thanks!!! 🙂

And also how low their matriculates yield is lol (they need to accept >3x the number of seats lol)

Could NYU be credited due to the fact that it becomes the first choice for most people since it's free tuition now? Not sure what the stats were pre free tuition, but that would give us an idea. Definitely agree on some of the big names you mentioned, especially U Penn.

It was was like that even before the tuition deal

Another anecdotal view; process is pretty random even with LM > 80. Received interviews at WashU, Hopkins, and Penn. Rejected from Stanford and NYU. No news yet from Vandy, Northwestern, UChicago, Case, or a few others. Have heard that OSU and UVA love high stats for OOS applicants.

LM of 72 with an acceptance at Wash U and interview at Vandy. I would say they’re a bit of prestige ****** as well, they directly asked me pointed questions about undergrad. i think that made up a bit for my stats.
