Schools that like non-trad students

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From my limited first-hand knowledge about medical schools, UC Riverside really likes non-traditional applicants. Loma Linda also does not place as big of an emphasis on GPA/MCAT, since they are looking at your life experiences and whether your personal mission fits well with the school's mission.

What are schools that like non-trad students or look more holistically at the applicant (and less on MCAT)?

Every school likes non-trads and reviews applications holistically. A weak MCAT is going to tank you no matter what your background is at every school. You have a limited number of ways to demonstrate academic prowess. If you are deficient in your GPA and/or your MCAT, you are facing an uphill battle at every school given that each of them can overfill their classes several times over.

All schools like non-trads. Especially in the Northeast, it seems.

Most schools like non-trads, but there are several that look for them specifically as well. If you look at the linkage lists at schools like Bryn Mawr, you get a sense of which schools try to actively recruit them.

That said you still need the stats. Being a nontrad wont help a poor application.

Many of the top schools have an average age of 25+ for their incoming class, indicating that they are highly receptive to non-trads. That being said, most of these non-trads are exceptional applicants anyway, as are their traditional counterparts.
