Started by stevesteve121
hi there,
does anyone know if most dental schools in US require secondary application?
ones im interested in are
temple

columbia
michigan
... and etc
thanks in advance!
Every school that I applied to (and that I know of) requires a secondary. It ranges from an actual application to just sending them $50 to process your application.

temple = yes, the 2ndary will be mailed to you in PDF. You print it out and bring it with you on interview day.hi there,

Case = don't know
columbia = don't know
michigan = don't require 2ndary
This has been discussed. Anyway, to dw, Columbia doesn't have one, but I'm not sure about Case.
Also, go to AADSAS' website and it lists everything.
I couldn't resist: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ADEA+AADSAS+secondaries

lol Maygyver...I know u were just messin around but that lmgtfy actually HELPED ME
I had no idea that AADSAS had a list like that. I was doing things the hard way and checking individual school websites. But very few schools specifically state that they DONT require a secondary. Case is one of the few schools that explicitly says they dont require one. Alot of schools dont mention if they DO or DONT have one and its hard (for me at least) to assume that they dont have one just cuz i couldnt find anything about it.
I was pretty surprised to find out how many schools dont seem to have a secondary. More than half the schools Im interested in dont have one. (by secondary I mean extra essays and stuff...they almost ALL have an extra secondary application fee 👎)
The link Im using is this one:
http://www.adea.org/dental_educatio...ents/2011SupplementalTableCompleteList(2).pdf
If anyone finds anything on this list that they know is wrong please let me know. Apparently USC has a mini-secondary/questionnaire that isnt listed on the pdf according to this thread: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=816696
Thats the only mistake I know of so far...

Haha, no problem. Yeah, all schools (I believe) had a secondary fee. Most secondaries really aren't too bad, other than UMKCs (I didn't apply there, but I saw it).

thanks guys! that was helpful
Harvard has one, but you only get to complete it if they invite you for an interview.
Thanks, you're right. From the Harvard website:
Interview
Applicants who are invited for an interview will be notified by phone, and we will work with the applicant to set up an interview date. Additional materials will be required of applicants who are invited to interview, including:
This information will be requested of you ONLY if you receive an invitation to an interview at HSDM.
- high school transcript (including SAT scores, if applicable)
- HSDM Supplemental Questionnaire
- 2x2 passport photo
So thats another one that the pdf is wrong about...I wonder how many more are wrong 😕

Honestly, you don't need to worry about secondaries right now. Just go with the flow. You have plenty of time to wait around, better get used to trying to not be neurotic. 🙂
On the list, some schools say we need to mail official DAT scores to the school as part of the secondary. This is no longer needed, right?
None of my schools required this. I think I heard DW say Detroit Mercy might? I would just give the schools a call and see what they say.
