i was just wondering about schools that screen. once you have passed their screening process and received a secondary what are your chances of actually getting an interview? is it still 50/50, like schools that don't screen, or is a bit of a higher percentage? anyone got any ideas?

You might want to do a search because there have been several threads on this topic, recently. 🙂

Depends greatly on the school, some the screening process is very cursory while at others (like Vanderbilt) it's quite thorough. I agree, do a board search.

Another example would be Mayo -- Their phone secondary is only offered to 15% of all applicants. From those 15%, the on-site interview is offered to approx. 60% of those who had the phone interview! So in the case of Mayo, much screening occurs before you get to visit - of course, their med school class has only approx. 30 students!
