I'm wondering if anyone knows which schools care a lot about extracurriculars/research/shadowing/leadership/being well-rounded?

vs which schools only care about the DAT/GPA?

From what I think I know so far:

Numbers: UOP, Case
Well-Rounded: UF

Despite what some people will tell you, almost all dental schools just want the numbers. Arizona is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that probably looks more for well rounded than numbers.

I agree numbers are the only thing most schools care about!

Midwestern told me they put a lot of weight on letters of rec. UOP looks at connections first and numbers second... Arthur Dugoni's grandson went to high school with me... now 7 people from my high school class (that I know of) go to UOP...

I sure hope #'s are not all that D-schools look at. Sure its competitive, but there were some students with 4.0's at my school that had the worst interview skills you could imagine, and would be the last person you'd want sticking a high RPM drill into through your dentin!!

unless you have a PhD (which is a big plus) or are a social ****** or have been convicted for felony or have a really crappy LOR or are a URM,

it is pretty much all about the numbers

I would say that Baylor tends to lean towards more well-rounded applicants. Thats just the impression I got though.. I could be wrong.

Schools use the numbers to pare down a huge number of applicants (the elusive and magical "cut off" number is different for each one). Then from that smaller pool they look at individual applications to find the best, "well rounded" fit for each school.

The only people who know the answer to your question are the ADCOMs.

All schools want you to hit certain numbers. Beyond that the schools can differ on what type of students they want.
