Schools with DAT Cutoffs

I bought the 2009 ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools book from the ADEA, which by the way is VERY helpful but also needs to be more comprehensive, early this year.
In the book they state that some schools have a required minimum for the DAT. I'll list it below to help ya'll out. Of course check with the school right now because they might have changed their requirement. Also check to see if there is a minimum for each section. Hope this helps!🙂
DAT Minimum
USC: 15 required
Howard: 17 required
Nova: 18 required
Univ of Florida: 15 minimum
Medical College of Georgia: 14 required and 14 required for PAT
UIC: 15 minimum and 14 required for PAT
Indiana: 16 minimum, 18 required for Reading Comp
Iowa: prefers the minimum national average on each section of the DAT
Tufts: 16 required, 15 required for PAT, and 16 required for Total Science
Mich: 17 or higher in science sections
UMKC: 17 preferred
UMDNJ: 18 minimum
Stony Brook: no minimum but must be taken within 3 years of application
UNC: 17 required
OSU: 13 minimum for PAT
Oklahoma: 17 minimum
Pitt: 16 minimum on each section of the DAT
Temple: 18 required
Tenn: 17 required
VCU: should be taken no later than Dec of the year prior to matriculation
Washington: should be taken no later than Oct. 31st of the year before you are admitted

Well I typed in exactly what it stated in the book. So as you can see with some schools there is a required minimum score in a certain section. As with other schools it just says what is the minimum or required.
It is pretty unclear but either way you look at it, a required or minimum means the same thing. I got a 21 AA but a 17 in QR. Does that mean I still won't apply to a school that says "18 required" (which of course is very unclear because we don't know what section they're talking about) because the ADEA book didn't specify? No, I'll take my chances lol. But ya like I stated before, contact the schools if you have more questions.
that list is very helpful. so you guys think that when they say a general "17 minimum" or whatever number that they are referring to the AA score? that would make the most sense to me. Either that or a minimum of that certain score in every section.
OHSU has minimum 15 in each section

I dont' think UCSF has a minimum requirement of 17 in each section. I just took a look at predents.com and noticed someone who interviewed with a QR 14.
It might be that they look at scores in an individual basis? who knows... I'm applying there with a QR 16 so hopefully I can get an interview
Good gosh! If you get below a 12 in RC, its time for a re-take!
I think all of these numbers should only be used as a general guide. What an applicant may be lacking in DAT scores can be made up for in other areas. If you're really unsure, give the school(s) a call and speak to someone who reviews applications. It seems most schools look at each application individually, but I'm sure there are ones with hard cutoffs as well.
Though predents is a good resource, I took my info directly from the schools. I trust information from the schools over information found on predents. Information on predents may be erroneous or that person may have extenuating circumstances. I would not plan on getting into these schools if your scores are below the advertised minimums!

Ya unfortunately the ADEA book is pretty unclear when they say minimum or required score and only for some schools do they specify if it's for the AA or for certain sections.
That's why when I typed in all the info about each school and their minimum in my first post above, I tried to state everything EXACTLY as it was written in the ADEA book.
Either way, I decided that it's best to contact each school individually about any DAT minimum because it comes directly from the source. Don't just rely on info you find online or what other people say. You know what I mean? (lol but I'm not saying don't believe me b/c I just copied and pasted whatever was in the book on this thread).
