I am wondering about this. How does this work, especially with labs? I am just curious about taking online science/labs. Do any school's accept these classes?

I am taking my non-science classes online and then will focus on my sciences. I have to get my math up to the level it needs to be anyway. I know that some schools do not require a speech class, but, will take one anyway, because I tend to keep to myself etc. Anyway, just curious and thought this would be a good place to ask.

I guess I have another question. Do schools frown at applicants going to multiple schools to get the pre-reqs? There is the possibility we will be moving in a year.

thanks for anything you can offer 🙂

I took A&P I and II online. I took biology online as a hybrid class, meaning I had to do labs on campus but did everything else online. The A & P classes were 100% online (well, I had to go to campus to take proctored tests). The 1st semester, we had labs to do and had to write reports with digital pictures and explain the whole process. The 2nd semester required lab write ups that you wouldn't be able to BS without doing the labs. It was pretty interesting. I didn't have a problem using these classes when applying to pharmacy schools. Then again, it didn't say anything about the classes being online on my transcript and PharmCAS didn't require you to put online class or anything when I applied. I don't know if they do now or not.

I wouldn't recommend online sciences like chemistry or physics. Those you would probably get the best benefit out of going to class but that's just my humble opinion.

If you are moving, then you can't really control that. Most schools would be pretty understanding about that, as long as you don't plan to move again once in pharmacy school!

Good luck!

I took Human Physiology online because I had taken "animal" physiology and not all schools would accept that (even though it was actually an upper division human physiology class since all we covered were human systems)

the online class was difficult in the sense the teacher was horrible. The class was basically read a chapter, memorize everything and take a test with no notes etc. That was fine except when you have questions like "which of these was not an example used in the reading" and it was some cryptic small point mentioned.

My luck I chose a school where I am going to be taking physiology for a third time!

Depends on the school you are applying to. Some school will not accept any form of on-line classes, some don't care. I took English 1010, calc based physics I and II and chem I and II on-line, but I took the labs on campus for chem I and II and didn't need physic labs. I got accepted into two schools w/ no problems. The school I did the on-line courses (and other pre-reqs) doesn't show on-line courses any different then an on campus course so the schools don't know unless they ask.

So check w/ the schools you want to apply to first.

Good Luck

The schools I've went to usually have lectures online, and on-campus labs.
Or, as I understand it, they have creative online labs: virtual disections, etc. or they have you do certain laboratory work at home and turn in data sheets or formal reports online.

I took an intro bio class online. It was fun, but I don't think I got the same value that I would have had I taken it in person with a full lab.

Also, note that some schools do not accept any online classes. USC is one such school.
