Did the AAMCOS count Psychology as a science for your apps?

some psychology courses you may list as biology courses. I did. You can. For example, physiological psychology, biopsych, nueropsych

it's the content of the course that determines designation and not the classification underwhich you took it. Many classes are actually crossed listed with multiple departments.

I was reading the first chapter of my Experimental Psych book (which is the book for the class where we do research on the freshmen psych students). The entire chapter is an attempt to convince people that Psych is a science just like Physics and Chemistry. It kinda got my hopes because I have a 4.0 in Psych and 3.0 on pre-reqs. Well at least I'll get to use the A from Bio-Pysch. Thanks.

AACOMAS says that the department the course is taken in determines whether it is counted for science. If your biopsych course was through the psych department, then it does not count. I am pretty sure this is how it works.

AACOMAS counted one of my psychology courses as math although I had designated it as behavioral sciences originally. I had done an experimental design and stats course. In your case, I would try to list the course as a science and hope that the AACOMAS people don't change it during processing. Good luck.

What did you list stats and behavorial design as? I would imagine Psych stats is under math and behavorial design is just behavorial sciences... Thanks for your advice.

Compute your GPA and credit hour totals for science, non-science, and combined, as well as by year. The Science category would include all courses with subjects of Biology, Organic, Biochemistry, Other Science, Physics, and Inorganic Chemistry. Non-science would include courses with subjects of Math, English, Behavioral Sciences, and Non-science

Experimental Design & Statistical Analysis was one course that I had taken through the psychology dept although it was cross-listed with the bio dept. I had listed it originally as behavioral sciences since behavioral sciences, I believe, encompasses courses like psychology, sociology, etc. However, the AACOMAS people, during processing, changed its listing to a math course. Actually, the change helped out my BCPM gpa since my real math grades are rather low (I had gotten a B in the exp. design and stats course).

I listed all of my neuroscience dept. courses as biology since my school's bio dept. runs the neuroscience dept. Psychology is a distinct dept. from neuroscience in my school.

So, I think it's worth a shot to try to list the course that you were asking about as a bio course and hope they (AACOMAS) don't change it.

Math courses DO NOT affect your science GPA.

Well then, I'll just add those two in Math and the Biology Psych (the brain) to Science. That's cool. It's funny how they say " non-science would include.... and non-science"
