Do u guys recommend taking Chem 2 and Bio 2 in the summer?
Is it really worth it? Have any of u guys done this, and if so how likely is one to get good grades?

Greatly appreciate your responses..

Which chem 2 and bio 2 are you referring to? Either way, it is very manageable to do them both at the same time. If you are not able to do undergrad chem and bio at the same time, you can't expect to handle dental school bio and chem at the same time. I did O-chem, Bio and physics in the same semester and did well. You can do whatever you put your mind to. Besides, it will be great preparation for dental school, right?

I just realized you put summer school on there, however it doesn't change my response. I just wanted to let you know that I realized that. I am doing Ochem, Bio and physics right now in a summer session. ONLY 2 MORE DAYS OF IT! I am in school from 7:30 am till 8:30 pm, M-TH. So tough, but so worth it!

I am taking O-chem 1, Microbiology and Bio 2 , and working 2 jobs with around 50 hrs/wk this summer session.. and also as a new daddy for my 1 and half month old baby, feeding him every 2 hrs each nite. Just couple more weeks of school to go and my lowest test grade was 95. It's doable if you really want to do it.

In my opinion, DON'T take the bio and chem (especially if it is O chem) in the same summer semester. You will feel frustrated! All your goal is to get a good score and accepted to dental schools. Just try whatever you can to keep high GPA and don't take the risk. You can challenge yourself AFTER you have been accepted to dental schools not before that with the risk that you get low score and put yourself in hard situation to apply.
Yes, a bio, a chem (o-chem), and a physics are definitely doable, but in REGULAR semester not in short summer section. I took the above three classes and one advanced English writing in the regular semester.
If you are going to take G chem I, then go ahead; it is doable and probably you want to add one more GE course. If you are going to take G chem II with lab, then I suggest you only take this course and get A. If you want to take O-chem I without lab, then it is still doable without other courses. If you want to take O-chem II, then DON'T take it in summer. It requires a lot of memorization, practice, and understanding. Good Luck.

hi lui:
I think it depends on your background in both bio and chem. if you went though CHMI and BIO I without any studying, getting easy As (there ARE people like that) , then doing summer classes is definitly a great idea to save time. but if you struggled and had to study a lot to keep up with both classes, then you may wanna reconsider your decision. think about how many hours of study you had to put into for each hour of classes during school year, and mutiply by the hours of class you will have per day this summer, to see if you would have enough time to study for both subjects. Hope this helps!
🙂

thanks , but does it really makes a difference to take general CHM 2 and a GE course in the summer rather than to take general BIO 2 and a GE course in the summer? Is general CHM 2
really more complicated and time comsuming than general BIO 2?
