When schools require an LOR from a science professor, does this imply BCP only? Or would a professor of a class designated by AADSAS as "other science" qualify?

I was told by other pre-dental and dental students that schools were looking for BCP professors for the science LOR's. I wasn't exactly sure, so I just played it safe. They were implying it as an intro Bio prof, or a GChem or OChem prof, but I'm thinking that Anatomy/Physio/Biochem professors would be acceptable too! If you think you can get a good rec from someone who isn't a BCP prof, either ask your top choice schools what they want, or just use that LOR as your 4th LOR. Good luck 🙂

As far as I know, BCP LoR is very strictly biology, chemistry, or physics classes.

Anatomy/physiology is considered biology. Biochem is most certainly considered one or more of the above.

In my case, however, my Fluids mechanics class (engineering) is not considered physics. Most engineering classes aren't considered BCP, unless it specifically fulfills a BCP prereq (my physical biochemistry class was engineering, and it fulfills my inorganic prereq).

Im wondering if professors of "other science" courses could write my letters, as I am not well acquainted with my BCP profs, but have several connections with "other science" professors.

i would rely on the application service's definition of "science" as they apply them to your courses.

Sorry, what I meant to say was that usually when they refer to "science" they are strictly BCP. I know that for my engineering classes, unless they satisfy a BCP pre-req, they are not considered "science" LoR.

However, when calculating "science" GPA, things like math and engineering is usually included I believe.
