I'm wondering whether all three of the passages for the RC portion of the OAT are science-related. I'm asking this because in one of the Kaplan practice tests I did, 2/3 were science-related articles.

Also, the passages I've done were more or less the same length, however, i thought the difficulty of each varied slightly from one another. Should I give myself exactly 50 minutes/3 for each section or use more time doing the more difficult one??? I know I won't get a definite answer, and this varies from person to person but I'd appreciated it if anyone can give some insight/help as to what I should do!

Another itty bitty question: Is scrap paper provided to work out calculations?

Thanks 🙂

Hello:

Not all the passages will be science related. When I took the exam, my first passage was a sociology essay and the remaining two were scientific. I'm guessing that there will be at least two scientific essays and the last one could be from any field.

From what I understand (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), the exam does not distinguish between what is a hard question and what is an easy question. A correct point is weighed the same between whatever difficulty. So, definitely answer all the easy ones first. Especially for the quantitative reasoning section, you want to do all the easy ones first because those are the easy points. You can then spend the rest of the time figuring out the tougher question.

No scratch paper was given when I took the exam. Just write all over your test booklet, that's what I did.

Good luck,

Rosanna
