I just recieved a packet of information from SCO about regional state residency certification and such, yet no interview invite. Are they emailed to you or mailed? I just really want to go to SCO. I recieved an interview at NOVA, but I have made up my mind that SCO is the school for me. Please respond. Thank you all in advance.

I got an email. I think they mailed the info pack to everyone; I didn't get it until after my interview.

Yeah, I got my info packet after my interview too. They'll send you an email to let you know if they want you for an interview!

Good luck - I hope they offer you one!! Nova was the other school I applied to as well and after visiting, I really knew that SCO was the right choice for me.

i actually called SCO about the residency certification right after they invited me for an interview...nancy mailed me the form and i mailed the form to the state office before i went to my interview so that everything would be sent.

Does anyone know how SCO determines who gets the limited "in-state" seats for those not from Tennessee? Do they do that on a rolling basis as well? I am trying to figure out when to schedule my interview. I have a couple dates to choose from; only the later one is really good for me, but the earlier one is workable but very inconvenient. I have a test and a planned trip scheduled for the first date and pretty much nothing scheduled for right around that later date. Oh, and the earlier date is like in a week and a half! Any advice?

They're on a rolling basis, just like all the seats. If you call, they might be able to tell you how many are spots are available to your state, and how many are left.

Thanks. I did call them and they said that they were holding a couple of SC seats until they had interviewed all the SC candidates.

I have an interview next week and I was wondering what to wear to it. I was planning on wearing a black suit with a blue shirt and tie with the same blue in it or another color shirt with a tie with the shirt color in it. However, I was recently told by former SCO teacher that that was too dressy for Memphis. Can anyone tell me what he wore (if you're a guy) or what the other guys wore? Thanks!

Wear the suit; everyone else will be wearing one.

It's a little known rule that a black suit tends to be too formal for an interview. So this could be a reason why this person told you it was too dressy, HOWEVER, a suit of another color (charcoal or tan) would be most appropriate. Try to avoid flashy colors as well, it's important that your interviewer's attention doesnt deviate from you to your neon orange tie. So moral of the story: wear a suit at minimum and stay conservative. If a black suit is all you have then that's fine. It's always better to overdress than underdress. You can google this topic if you want more tips. Hope this helped

I don't think a black suit is too formal at all. I was wearing one with a really nice black and white checkered shirt to make it not so boring. My interviewer had a black suit on too. Its better to be overdressed than underdressed 🙂

Oh and to go back to the original question. I received a packet of information about 2 weeks after I applied, I applied whenever the first day was and didn't get offered an interview until this past week. They sent an email saying I was offered an interview and what dates I had and then a few days later, the formal offer came in a big white envelope.

I was wearing a suit with a bright magenta button-down. The interviewers need something to remember you by, why not wear a bright shirt or tie? Anyways, you don't have to wear a suit. Everyone else will NOT be wearing one! The SCO interview is pretty casual. (I mean, don't wear jeans, but you don't need to wear a suit).

That's true, I was incorrect in saying that everyone else will be wearing a suit. I can't generalize based on my experience. What I meant was, if you have a suit, you might as well wear it. As everyone else keeps saying, the SCO interview is very relaxed; they will be much more interested in your social skills than your appearance. Just relax, be yourself, and have a good time.

I applied to SCO as soon as the application became available in August. The notified me that they had recieved all of the information they needed by August 20th. I got a packet of information about SCO about three weeks ago but haven't heard ANYTHING regarding my application or a possible interview yet 🙁 should I be extremely worried about this?

I would call them and see what's up. What are your stats, if you don't mind sharing?

They aren't nearly as stellar as some of the people who post on here, and I feel stupid sharing what I have. 3.58 gpa 330TS and 320AA

I totally hear you. Your GPA is way better than mine. I have a 3.1 but 360TS and 350AA. Even so, your GPA and OAT scores are above average! I would definitely contact them.

I actually have the exact same OAT score and my GPA is 3.67 and I just got a letter in the mail for an interview..so don't worry. Gosh I feel so much better now, I was also worried that it had been too long since I received any information, but I got the invite. By the way, you have a great GPA and that will definitely help the OAT score, so I have been told my SCO. =0)

All the interviewees I saw when I had my interview were also wearing suits; I think they were all black, but one might have been a really dark blue.
