Just wondering what the differences and advantages/disadvantages are of these three schools. Also just curious as to what Memphis is like? Heard good things about the school, but very very bad things about the city...

I live in the suburbs of Memphis and I love it!

SCO is great. Of course there are some things here and there they could fix in admin, but overall I feel that I am getting a good education there. I always feel safe at school, never threatened whatsoever. SCO is in Midtown, not Downtown.. so it's a little bit less sketchy. Overall, not too scary of a place once you get acclimated 🙂

Agreed. I like the suburbs. Also, our clinic is attached to our school so you don't have to worry about how to get there. Cost of living is much lower too so it's more affordable to live here.

If you don't like Memphis as a city to live in, you can move out to Cordova. 20 min drive to school, but wayyyy nicer than Memphis proper. I live out in Cordova and other than the time I spend at school, I generally don't spend any time in Memphis. Save for visiting friends and going downtown. It's easy to avoid the sketchiness of Memphis if you really want to.

I live on Mud Island (right next to downtown Memphis) and I love it. The school is great and safe although the area immediately surrounding school is a little sketchy, but security is great. Downtown is NOT sketchy at all. I spend a decent amount of time downtown and I always feel safe. It probably depends on where you are from and what your previous experience has been, but I really don't think Memphis is that bad. I don't want to live here after I graduate, but I think that it is perfectly fine for the time being while I'm in school!
