There are some clear reasons for OBG not to be the favorite program, atleast among US graduates. Malpractice and hectic life style are clearly the top two negative factors for OBG specialty. You might also observe that some programs take desperate measures to attract US grads for their spots. Infact, some programs have gone to medical schools to recruit seniors in to their programs.
Although, many US grads are looking away from OBG, some have strong passion for OBG . They want their profession only for OBG and nothing else. Some take up OBG specialty as it is easy to get matched in to top programs. And some who cannot get in to other programs .
