could someone please elaborate on what the scope of practice might be for private and academic plastic surgeons post residency. Does one really get opportunities to see a wide variety of cases? or do you really focus on a specific area of expertise? Thanks.
 
I think it really depends on where youre at. At a big city academic place you can definitely see a very wide variety of cases, but most people seem to focus in on a particular area they find attractive. It seems like it would be very hard to consistently have a wide spectrum of cases just due to the breadth that is PRS, though i do know a couple of VERY busy attendings that manage to do so.
