Hey everyone,

I take my DAT on the 2nd and I'm super nervous about it. I need a 19AA for the program I am in, and I'm cutting it real close.

My first-time bootcamp scores are:
18/22/15/19/23/23

My Top Score scores are:
Test 1: 17/19/14/19/22/23
Test 2: 17/19/15/18/21/22
Test 3: 17/20/14/19/21/23

Most obviously, I am failing Org. I have taken both semesters of it at my university and got an A in both of them, and I have also watched Chad's videos once through and done all the quizzes once as well, but something is going horribly wrong. I might be too stressed. My question is, would memorizing the reactions be enough to land me a ~17/18 in the org section on the DAT? Or, does anyone have study tips (I also take notes down while I watch the video to try and get an extra imprint, but to no avail).

In addition, does anyone have any advice for getting a few extra points out of these last 3 days? I am so nervous, and I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks!

Hey I think you should know the reactions from chad's videos. I had the same problem I totally got so nervous but I just went through his reactions and I think if you get a good understanding of the concepts you can make an educated guess if need be on the actual exam. Although my friend told me chad's was enough. I don't believe there are that many questions on reactions from what I've heard but definitely go over chad's. My score increased significantly on practice tests just from reviewing chads 🙂 Hope that helps. It worked for me, so just wanted to share.

If you have been through Chad's Orgo videos and had no major problems with the content, you will be fine in that section. I did not see anything on my exam that he didn't cover.

Memorizing the reactions is part of the battle but you should also know basic concepts. This includes naming, R & S, resonance, intermolecular forces, and others. Having the general idea of the nucleophile attacks the electrophile will help you tremendously.

Good luck- if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the help, guys. I didn't find most of Chad's videos too difficult to understand, but I'm worried because as I run through Org Destroyer I'm getting about 50% of the questions right. I took the 2007 DAT and got a 17 on the Org section. I'm real worried about my score - but hopefully come DAT time I will pull off the scores I need. Thanks!!

Your first run through Destroyer and only getting half wrong? That's pretty darn good if you ask me.
