What is a perfect mcat score? Which is weighed more mcat or gpa?

45T is the highest you can get (starting April 2003, before it was 43+T)

I think it depends on the school. If you have a high GPA, the MCAT score is weighed a little less lightly unless you totally bombed it. If your GPA is a little on the low side, the MCAT score then becomes much more an important factor.

I think it also depends on your undergraduate institution. If you went to a well-known, well respected UG, your MCAT may be less important, but if you went to a no-name state school (like I did) then supposedly they give greater weight to your MCAT. I have read that the reason they do this because the MCAT is supposed to be a standardized assessment of your knowledge/critical thinking skills, whereas grades could differ from school to school (because of grade inflation, course difficulty, etc.)

From what Ive heard, the MCAT and GPA are components of the same statistical measure of academic success.

While the MCAT gives adcoms information into how well you can perform relative to other applicants, your GPA tells them for what length you can sustain high academic achievement.

Ive heard of people with low GPAs being saved by the MCAT, but not vice versa. So if you twisted my arm into forcing me to pick which is more important, I would probably say MCAT.

I agree that it depends on the undergrad school and that one score can compensate the other. However, overall, the GPA is a little more heavily weighted, incontrast to law admissions where the LSAT is the single largest determinant of acceptance.
