So, I took my first practice test today, and i scored a HORRIBLE 13. TOTAL
My test date is 4/26

I've been studying all day every day.. i still have to review Orgo and Genchem. Im feeling the most confident in Bio but i scored a 5 in that section so that means nothing. I realize i have yet to commit alot of things to memory. I didnt review all the material before i took it, i just wanted to see where i stood. And it looks ****TY.

I'm applying to St. Georges and the minimum is a 27.. i'm aiming for a 30.

Could someone please gauge more or less what my chances are, or if you have any advice please let me know. Im desperate!!! I did not expect to do this bad.. i was hoping for AT LEAST a 19 on the practice but this reality bites.

HELLPPP!!

The good news is that that was only a practice test. You are currently very weak in many of the content areas and need a lot more studying. Do extensive post game analysis for that test and try to make sure you understand the content being tested. April may or may not be too soon for you to do the actual exam. Do not rush it. Really study thoroughly this time around, so that you don't have to take it again. Best of luck.

Seems like you lack a lot in the content portion. If you understand your content, you should be scoring in the mid 20s. What I suggest is go back and really review main concepts and topics that you are stuggling in. Also, go back to your AAMC PT you took, and look at the easy questions that you missed (you can sort them that way). Those ones you should be getting 100% on and usually account for about 20 questions.

The minimum is a 27 at St. Georges? :scared:

Take more practice tests, and continue reviewing the areas you are weak in. Keep a journal if necessary.

Yeah, right.

OP there's simply no way you're going to more than double your score in 45 days. I really dislike speaking in terms of extremes, but unless today was a fluke, you need to reschedule your test. You're waaaaaaaaaaaaay off from where you need to be.

Minimum for SGU is not a 27, maybe it's what you feel you need to get in order to have a decent chance.

Anyways, Orgo is 25% of the BS section and Gchem is 50% of the PS section so take into account that you shouldn't have planned on scoring that high unless you knew you had a strong background in them.

Go over EVERY problem (right and wrong) and see why you got it right or wrong, this is the first step.

Edit: Also note your test date is a month and a half away, and you still have at least half of your content review to do it seems. Keep the fact you can delay your test date as an option in the back of your head. SGU might not be as picky about taking the test twice as some other schools, but a score in the teens is never going to help your application regardless of where you're applying.

1. What test did you score a 13 on? An AAMC? Kaplan? Something else?

2. I would suggest you make sure you actually take the test under standardized conditions (ie. get rid of all outside distractions, try to focus solely on the test at hand, etc)

Bold is not necessarily true.

Since your score is that low, I would sugggest to go over content again. Any score less 24 (with a 6+ in VR), indicate that your content knowledge is lacking.... What prep materials are you using? If it is EK books for PS/BS, I would tell you to put them aside and get your your hands on TBR or TPR.

I am using TPR materials and i plan on going everything ofcourse, but i think whats bringing my score that low ist hat ive only looked at gchem and ochem once

it was the free tpr practice test. i was talking with some friends last night and they said thats probably why. Its hardest so that i feel like i need to take the course. it makes me feel a little better considering this wasnt the test with all my content knowledge just partial. ill take another in two weeks and see how it goes.. AAMC is best right?

Yes it is, and I wouldn't waste it if I were you. Take another practice test, and I recommend Kaplan because people seem to think that Kaplan full lengths are typically 1-3 points above what you'd score on an AAMC test. If you bomb the kaplan test as well, you need to start over.

edit: On second thought, just finish content review before you waste your time on any more practice tests. Take 2-3 weeks and wrap everything up, then move on to practice tests. Taking tests when you haven't even glanced at a chunk of content is a huge waste of time.

Ill keep that in mind... also, I'm going over the test and I just saw that I skipped two passages in the physical science section... this was all obviously a disaster. Ill take your advice and finish reviewing and be more careful when taking the test. I must have double clicked the next button or something.
