As previously reported on the USMLE website, there is a delay in the
reporting of
Step 1 scores for your students who tested from May 18 through the end
of
June. Although in the past few years we have been able to report scores
a
week earlier than the original target date, this year we can confirm
that
these results will not be posted to this website or mailed to examinees
until
July 18, 2007.

Not necessarily graded...but normed. As a standardized test, they have to figure out what the "curve" is going to be.

The USMLE/COMLEX isn't on a bell curve. Its a scaled test.

How can they be so SO sure that who ever scores a 200 this year have the same mount of knowledge of someone that score 200 4 years ago?

It will be nice if they gave out an extra couple of points just for

And what really irks me, why dont they give us our scores online. They cite privacy as reason......is snail mail more secure than loggin onto OASIS/NBME
Anybody can read my snail mail. Its time, they started giving us scores online. Atleast 10-15 days of extra wait for FMGs will be reduced

Our school emails them to us as soon as they get them (if we opt for them to do so), but my understanding from the dean is that the 18th is the day that they get the scores and the day the NBME mails the scores to us. So if your school doesn't give them by email or phone, you will likely have to wait until the 20th or later to actually receive the scores in the mail 🙁

yes, I heard the same that they usually get them a day or few before to notify those that didn't pass. I just was not sure if it was true. I hope if someone hears anything from their school, they could please let us know. Thanks....good luck

I wonder why other schools wouldn't do it... I can understand not wanting to give them out over the phone because it would be hard to verify identity that way, but why wouldn't they consider your school email to be secure enough? As other posters have said, anybody can come and grab your snail mail if they so desired, but they'd have to know your password in order to get your email.

I suppose it could just be an issue of laziness (nobody in the office wants to send out a hundred emails), but it would really suck if nobody in your student affairs office cares enough to take 2 seconds to do it 🙁 It's only a pain one day a year (I imagine the score reporting for other weeks is pretty light).

Yeah, I've heard this too. This is complete crap and there is NO REASON that in this day and age, we have to wait 6 weeks for scores to come out. There is no reason statistical summaries can't be read, standardized, and reported in a couple of weeks, at most.

They just better not blue-ball us like the AAMC did 3 yrs ago. I checked that site for my MCAT score, VERY OCD like, and then the day that they were going to post scores, we were told that the release date would be pushed back another week and a half!! I swear, if that happens again... 😡

Or they could be like the NBOME who now shows that scores are available for the dates I took the exam, but the internal portal hasn't updated to show our scores. Nor did it change the login from scheduled to taken.

Since it's friday night, guess we now have to wait until Monday to actually see the scores. 😡

Right on - test was tough. I think most people felt that way. I do however have this ominous feeling in the pit of my stomach...I'm even already coming up with backup plans if my 230+ doesn't work out...I'm thinking cards...

Yeah thats valid only if ur score has been reported. And I think it works only on ECFMG site. And it is known as the OASIS trick

it seems like it became popular with the non-US test takers because they usually have days to wait AFTER scores are reported (due to the mail--since scores aren't avail. online). other forums have posts claiming that it works on the nbme site, too. BUT you have to check AFTER the score is reported, otherwise it may or may not allow you to register for Step 1 again based on whether or not your eligibility period has expired yet.
