A lot of people have told me that with weak background knowledge it's going to be impossible to score really high.

What is the difference between someone who scores a 230 and someone who scores a 270?

Is it even possible to score high with very weak (read: no) background knowledge? I am afraid I'm going to go too far into studies only to realise that reviews just aren't enough for someone who hardly knows anything about medicine.

Just a really poor university, not saying it was all the university's fault though.

And yes, I am willing to give it everything.

if you set up a consistent schedule where you put in a solid 13 hrs with no distractions for 2 months, you will be fine. the resources you need are discussed in the step 1 thread.

What about the need to pick up text books to get some background knowledge?

Or can you manage with reviewers and scoring really high depends more on personal intelligence/ability?
