scoring in the DAT (how does it work???)

can someone explain the scoring system on DAT?
say if you get 21 in QR, 22 in BIO, 23 in RC and 24 in PAT
what's AA? i keep on seeing it on this forum

Edited to avoid confusion:

According to TopScore AA is calculated by the total number of questions right in RC, QR, and TS divided by the number of questions in those sections. It's not about averaging the section scores on the 1-30 scale, so try and get as many of those 100 TS questions right to bring it up.

If that is the case, then TopScore is completely wrong. AA is calculated by your Bio+GC+OC+RC+QR divided by 5 rounded to the nearest whole number.

one thing to also keep in mind regarding the scoring of the DAT is that it is based upon a normalized distribution (bell-shaped curve). if you miss 1 problem, that means your score will be lower than expected (e.g. if you miss 1 problem on Natural sciences, you will recieve a 26-27. on a linear scale, you would recieve a 29.66666.)

Generally, 1 question wrong is a 27, 2 wrong is a 25, 3 wrong is a 23-24, 4 wrong is a 21-22, 5 wrong is a 20-21.

AA is average of all sections.

Academic Average is calculated by adding all 3 sciences, QR, and RC then dividing numbers of questions by correct answers (e.g. BIO has 40 questions whereas CHEM and OCHEM have 30).
So you can think AA as average of TS + QR + RC.

TS is avg of 3 science courses.

PAT is never included in any avg. but used separately as its own indicator.

No...AA is the average of the the 3 sciences+ QR + RC scores.
TS is NOT the average of the 3 science scores. It is based on the number of incorrect science questions. It is CLOSE but not necessarily the average of the 3 sciences.

The ADA has a pdf explaining exactly how DAT scores are calculated:

As stated, PAT is individually scored.

AA is average of five sections excluding PAT.

TS is calculated in some way (that I don't want to care) but not definitely average of three science scores. If it were, my TS would be one point higher 🙁
