1. How can I scramble for a position in an ophthalmology residency program?
2. When? Time and date?
3. How can I find out if there are any positions to scramble for?
4. Should I call the PD of an unfilled program from my home? from my school's dean's office?
5. How many days should I set aside for Scrambling?

You should talk to your ophtho dept's PD. A lot of the PDs find out before its listed on the vacancy page on SFmatch. Then you contact the programs with an open spot and hope to get an interview there. Last year, there was one open spot and >100 applications for the one spot. Try to get yours in early and a good word from your PD will go a long way in getting you an interview.

It's not really a scramble. Because there are so few vacancies and so many applicants, the programs that didn't match can take their time to review the second batch of applicants with a second round of interviews.

a person said that it would help to get your application in early...when is early (around what time)?
