Holy toledo, I think after reading Idio's last post that I may actually have made a big mistake. I need some advice guys. When I took my USMLE last week, I took a grand total of 2 breaks between sections. I chatted with the cute proctor and then hit the bathroom, and returned within 10 minutes both times. Each time I left my break screen up but I did not check that little box out next to the sign in/sign out line. I thought that was for the proctor to check. The proctor never told me to check it and everything seemed to go fine. Anyone else have a similar problem, because now I am wondering if I should call NBME or the testing center ASAP. I don't want any irregularity showing up on my score sheet. Please advise!!!

if they were going to file irregularity against you they would inform you that they were. it isn't something that's done secretly. if it was done you would know about it. i don't think this will get you into trouble, since the proctor is a witness that your screen was up.

I sure hope you are right. Maybe Idiopathic knows for sure.

I think imtiaz is fairly knowledgeable, and his explanation makes sense to me. I know that if there was an obvious testing irregularity you would be notified immediately, and this is most likely due to the failure of the staff to pay attention to your sign out. Dont sweat it.

do the prometric people go over the test taking policies etc.. like taking breaks with you or is that in the 15 minute tutorial?

Dude chill out, at my center only half the people bothered to check that little box. It's not a big deal.

Yes and Yes, they go over it and the tutorial tells you. And First Aid goes into great detail about it too.

Besides, you were taped while taking the test, so if you did have a problem, they could always refer to the tape to prove your screen was on break. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it.
