My preceptor keeps getting upset with me for not asking thorough screening questions while doing physicals during my family medicine rotation, ranging from "when was your last colonoscopy" to "how much calcium do you take" and for kids, stuff like "do you wear a helmet when you ride a bike?"

I'm trying to track down good general screening guidelines, but I can't find a good resource, online or in a book. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I clickee on the health maintenance tab of the patient's EMR. No thinkee required.

They also have something that you can download on a PDA. You put in the patients age and gender (as well as smoking status if I remember right) and it gives a list of recommendations, including their level of evidence.
I thought it was a pretty neat resource.
