Oh, man. I just emailed all the schools I am planning on interviewing at, including LECOM-Erie where I was just accepted, and had to make come corrections to my file.
The first thing isn't a huge deal, it was more of a courtesy than anything else after I talked to my advisor today. She told me it is usually good to keep schools updated on your file. So I basically told them that 2 volunteer thngs I was doing when i did my app. I have since stopped doing them as of July 2009 and I stated the reasons. Can't change my AACOMAS since it is already verified.

Second, this one has me worried. I looked back at my AACOMAS today for the first time in like 2 months. I noticed that my ER experience I did in 2003 I put I did it from April 2003-May 2004. OOOPS!!! Don't know why I did that, as it should be April-May 2003. Since it was so long ago it hopefully wont be a huge deal, but I really got nervous when I saw it. I told them if they needed anything such as contact info for anyone to let me know.

Hopefully this doesnt cause a problem......

Oh no! good luck with everything, I hope/think it should not be a huge problem. I am sure they will understand it was a mistake, why else would you bring it up to them. If anything, the first thing actually looks good that you actually informed them about any changes.

this is why I am always afraid of looking back at my AACOMAS, I fear that I will find some mistake and freak out like no other. :scared:

Yeah, I calmed down a little! It was a very stupid mistake but trust me, I couldn't type and send out those emails quick enough to correct it. I sent them a correction, admitted my mistake. Nothing else I can do.

Also, I felt it would be a good idea to inform them that those two volunteer activities I had were either obtained through a third party contact and not the facility itself, so it really wasnt official. Also, the other activity was through a secondary organization of a VFW but not really part of the VFW.

That's why I told them to let me know if they need more info. If they want to verify anything they probably wont be able to through the organization directly. I think I am just getting paranoid. But just trying to be thorough! Anyway, especially for LECOM-erie, if there was an issue I would have heard by now.

You are paranoid, droogDOC

You got accepted dude. Congrats.

Thanks. Judging by some of the email responses I got from the school's so far today it seems it isn't a big deal. they will just "update" my records.

Honestly, I really think they could care less. Seriously. The ER experience was over 6 years ago for 1 month and is not even close to being significant in my application. Also, the volunteer experiences are nothing out of the ordinary. Feed homeless people and volunteer at clinic. I really dont think they care.

I just wanted to keep everything honest so there are no issues. Plus, personally, as long as your numbers, LORs, PS, and secondary are good schools are happy.

lol ur a *****

lol ur a *****

Judging by your other posts, where sometimes you actually seem to know what you are talking about, I am surprised that you would call me that. Because if you know half as much as you would seem to, you would know that, while unlikely for schools to bother with the time or care, you would know that it has happened to individuals that ECs or prior work history has been verified without getting contact info from the applicant. The school does an Internet search for the info, so they go around you. It has happened, U of Virginia is one that comes to mind.
While unlikely, it is better to just be safe and, you know, have some integrity........*****.

oops I think I read your original post too quickly, and thus incorrectly. I thought u wrote in your e-mail that you made "come" corrections and now you are freaking out about it.

sorry boss! yeah dont worry man, ull be fine. like ur counselor said, its prob a good idea to keep everyone updated.

good luck 🙂

Hey Guys,
Well I am at a cc now and have transferred around. Straight out of hs i went to a private school and never attended class 🙁, huge mistake failed all my classes. I then went to another college never mentioned that school to anyone again, I was a computer science major and I hated it so transferred into a cc. I remember my love with medicine and decided to stick to that route. I did want to do med from the begining but i screwed up. I'm getting ready to transfer to 4 year university but i think transferring into my 3rd school will be a problem. Like why was i constantly changing schools.

What do you guys think? Also does it matter what undergraduate school you graduate from? There is a chance I will transfer to Columbia :xf::xf::xf::xf::xf:.

thanks in advance

Perhaps I didn't quite understand your post. I take it to mean that you went to the private college and failed every class. Then you went to a second college and never mentioned your previous attendance at the private college. Now you are attending a community college and presumably are doing well and intend to transfer to a 4th college - perhaps Columbia. It is unclear to me if the grades from the first two colleges appear on your community college transcript as work attempted/transfer credit or just the credit from the second college.

Regardless, I am concerned about your honesty. The medical school application services ask about every college that you have ever attended. Omissions are lies - pure and simple. You have bigger problems than just attending four colleges and reporting attendance at only three. Medical schools, hospitals and state licensing agencies perform background checks. It would be sad for you to apply to medical school, invest time and money getting an education and later lose everything because of deceit.

You may be able to redeem yourself by being honest with everyone and making excellant grades in your final two year of college. Good luck

Pretty much all my credits transferred into the cc because it was english classes, math. Etc. The problem is the first college, I know if I mention it, its going to look bad but the thing is there pretty much is no proof that I went there unless they ask the school themselves. Never took a loan for the school, did any extra work there, there's nothing. I'm not sure how this school will show up on my background check. I just don't want this school to ruin my chances when applying to med schools.

Calm down, get a beer or something. It is not the end of the world.
I did the same mistake put 2009 when it was 2008. Some of my secondaries I corrected it where they asked it again, the other ones if they ask I will just tell them. I tried my best too, but we have to fill out plenty of stuff and after checking 5 times I still did not see it.
Med schools know we are just humans too.

Congrats on your acceptance. You DID it!
Hopefully in a couple of months I can say the same. :luck:
God Bless

Thinking about it I can mention the private college I attended. I took bio 1 w/ lab, remedial reading, writing, calculus, and psychology. I took psychology at my second college and received a A, calculus I received a C, english 1,2 B+, and bio w/ lab I'm taking now and I'm sure I'm going to end up with a A. I also remember that D.O. Schools let you replace retaken classes, I guess I'm just going to have to explain myself about the first school during a interview. I don't think ill have a chance at a MD school though(I only wanted to apply to a couple of them).

If you were a patient, would you want a doctor who concealed his past in order to put him into the position that he's in?

Let's assume you're a patient and you find out that your doctor did so. Would you begin to wonder about what other things this person might have concealed to get where he is today? Felonies, malpractice, etc.

Before you commit academic fraud you may went to consider these things. I'm sorry for being blunt, but I feel it speaks volumes about the type of person you are.

this is pretty serious. if I am reading correctly, You pretty much ignored putting down some of your academic history?

No your absoulety right! I wasn't really sure at first but then I did think about it and yeah I got grades so I'm going to have to put it down. I just wasn't really clear about it, but I get it now. Any grade you get anywhere I have to put it down.

Didn't put it down anywhere yet, the second school I went to was devry university and they said none of my credits would transfer there anyway so I started off fresh there. Then most of my credits did transfer to the cc but they didn't take care about the private college because the advisor said don't do it. When I do transfer from the cc I'm going to have to write all 3 colleges because it says lists all colleges attended.

totally lost me there. I thought you had already submitted your application and were now wondering whether you should mention the fact that you attended devry.

Devry was the 2nd college lol I went from st peters->devry->cc now I'm getting ready to transfer. All the class I took in the first college has been retaken and I have gotten good grades in them. Except calc since I got a C, atleast I know now to mention everywhere I went. I just wasn't too sure because I mean I didn't do anything there. Thanks for the great advice though, I really appreciate it you guys saved me from making a big mistake.

I screwed up early too, and I worked hard and have gotten a couple acceptances. Honesty is the best policy, I know you can get where you want if you work hard enough.

This! What looks better... you failed early on, realized your errors, learned from them, and are working toward pulling your grade back up and all the time remaining committed to your goal OR You cheated the system to get in and lied about your academic past.

It all boils down to what helps you sleep at night. You're making the right choice about telling about your failures and in the long run it looks better.

Hey guys,

So I just found out I got a C in Physics 1, I know I'm going to have to retake this class but when is the right time? I have about 4 more classes at my cc left so should I do it in the summer session? I'm sure I can get a A now, I just was a little distracted in the class.

GPA just went below 3 so I need to boost that GPA, other grades have not been calculated yet.
Thanks
