Hello,
I am interested in becoming a scribe, however, do have the following questions:-
1. What kind of training is required to become a scribe?
2. What are some of the companies that you would recommend? (i.e. that charge less money and have good stats in job placement)
3. I heard about a program in UCSF that does training and gives you this shadowing experiences? (Does anyone know the link or the name of this program, furthermore, does anyone know any other hospitals in Bay Area that have a service like that)
4. Any other important piece of advice you would recommend to those beginning in this field?

The training you usually get from the programs. Most programs I've seen don't require previous experience but helps your application. Other than being able to multitask and basic medical terminology it's an easy job. Pay is minimum wage but the clinical experience is what you're after really. Some companies allow you to wear scrubs and others a polo with khakis depends on the company and how they think you should be perceived by the patients.

What the worst part of the training is learning the computer system. There are several Electronic Medical Record programs. Our ER is switching programs in November which we aren't looking forward to.
