I took a typing test and got 74 WPM 100% accuracy. Is this good enough to be hired/competitive? Does anyone know what the average typing speed of a scribe is?

q1. yes, it's good enough.

q2. no.

I wouldn't stress the whole typing speed issue. I'm a scribe and never once got tested on typing...and I type only a step faster than the classic hunt and peck. I've never had any issues on the job with regards to typing despite working in a very busy ER. You should be fine.

I think the minimum requirement for my old job was 60 wpm. We had to take an online test, print out our results, and bring them to the interview. 🙄

But yeah, 74 wpm should be fine.

Agreed. I work as a scribe in an ER, and even with my average speed and having to google words I can't spell I can still keep up with my work. I found that it was more important to understand the terminology and what is actually being talked about. So no worries on the speed.
