Hi everyone,

I have never owned a pair of scrubs before, and I wonder what material are they usually made out of? 100% cotton, a mix of cotton & polyester?

Do you find that they shrink a larger than normal amount? I would like to know which size I need.

My summer league baseball t-shirt shrunk a TON...and it was advised that I get a bigger size than normal...which I was very happy I did. It was made out of 100% cotton. This phenomena seems to occur occasionally...just wondering if it is generally true here as well.

Might as well ask - anyone got any thoughts on why some shirts shrink some...and other shrink way more?

ALSO - how many pairs would be optimal for a first year at AZCOM? I imagine that they are only useful for anatomy lab.

I think most of them are a poly/cotton blend. I've got several pairs that I wore while teaching lab classes (look good & who cares if I spill crystal violet on them?). I've never had any problem with shrinkage when I wash them.

BTW, if you're not a "standard" size, I wholeheartedly recommend Lydias Uniforms for your scrubs. They carry a lot of plus sizes and some tall sizes as well. They have a website you can order from, search for styles in your size, etc. Their basic scrubs are pretty affordable and they seem to last forever!

scrubs are tthe debil. see, with regular pants if you gain weight they get tight or you haev to take your belt out a notch. scrubs, on the other hand, have drawstrings and expand with you, so you don't notice you're plumping up until you switch to a rotation where you need khakis, a shirt and a tie.

don't let them get you

Yes, but the tops are not as forgiving as the pants!

I wear scrubs all the damn time I have never had them shrink on me, fade yes, shrink, no

how many sets do you think would be optimal for a first year? I imagine they really only good for anatomy lab - right?

I'm pretty sure the people on Scrubs drink....Wait, I totally misread this thread...

Pooh,

Scrubs are good for everything! You can sleep in 'em, wear 'em to class....LOL.

Seriously, though, I would probably get a couple of sets for anatomy lab. I'm debating whether I want the tops that tuck in or the ones with the two pockets for lab. I'm thinking pockets are good.

My scrubs are honestly the most comfy things I own. I wear the pants quite a bit with just a T-shirt. Unless someone works in a hospital or sees the drawstring, they don't know the difference. But, I also don't wear the kind with the cuff at the bottom--just straight-leg/unisex stuff.

I also have never had scrubs....where to buy them? Does the color matter? How much are they in general?

dont need to buy them
they are free at the hospital
wear em, give em back, pick up some more
one of the perks of being a physician (or at least a physician-to-be) --> dont have to buy scrubs
