I'm currently doing a surgery rotation at the VA. I need to buy scrubs to wear in the OR. I just want normal scrubs, not the cute nurse outfits.

I looked online and there are many different scrubs. Cargo pants, drawstring, flares, etc. I want to make sure that they are the right kind for surgery. Does anyone have any idea which ones to get?

Why can't you wear the VA scrubs the hospital provides its employees? Your OR pharmacists should tell you where they are kept & provide you with his/her ID for obtaining them (or give you your own ID).

They are ususally in the locker rooms provided for changing.

Most OR's won't allow outside clothing of any kind - scrubs you've bought or regular clothing.

I wear scrubs to work 95% of the time... only time I wear a tie is for P&T.

Try Dickey's store. Heavy Duty plain ole scrubs.

if you have to get your own....go with drawstring waist and avoid the tight ankles (they are so 80's RN)

No way you'll need your own scrubs. Letting outside clothing in is a source of potential contamination. You might need rubber shoes or something of that sort.

The surgery staff at the place I worked would eat lunch in their scrubs. I always wondered how many bothered to change again after lunch.

dude, google search med vet international. You just want the plain, unisex, reversible scrubs. These are C H E A P, and the best part is, when you're really tired it doesn't matter, you can never put your clothes on inside out cause they're all reversible... tops are like $4-5 and bottoms like $6-7 depending on size and color. I usually go for the ciel blue or royal but that's just our dress code. Some other places prefer the jade green (that's not very *hip* so it's cheap too) or navy blue.

Fashion Seal brand is another cheap one...usually under $10 each for top and bottom.
