Anyone else disappointed in the reviews of EM programs on Scutwork? 21 programs aren't reviewed. Most only have one review. The majority of the reviews are by program residents, not rotating students. They generally don't point at any problems with the program.

I've finished with my list but better info on Scutwork would have helped. Is it unreasonable to suggest that the students here fill out an eval on the program they rotated?
😕

How many did you review? Some people either don't know about the site, don't take the time to register and review, don't care or only read and don't contribute. It's been frustrating for me too...

I gave reviews on the places I rotated at. I think that its more important for residents and/or rotating students to put the info up... you can't get too much info from an interview (unless its anecdotal) so I only paid attention to rotating students.

Take all the info from scutwork with a grain of salt... either htey're glowing reviews or bad-mouthing reviews.

Just the one I rotated at. I didn't feel I new enough to write a review based on the interview day.

I totally agree, I don't think it would be constructive to do a write-up of where we interviewed because we would be summarizing an entire program from what we see in 4-5 hours (hmmm, kind of like how we are choosing our rank list- screwy). Like Quinn said, most of the reviews are either trashing or praising the programs, although most are probably heartfelt. For more objective information, check out Frieda for raw data.

Agreed. I wish scutwork.com had more reviews on it... but i've been watching that site for 2 years or so now and it has gotten much more traffic and many more reviews, which is great! In the grand scheme of things, I think maybe 0.5% of your decision for your ROL should be based on scutwork.com... it is more of a tool to help you BEFORE your interview so in case something comes up on that site, you can bring it up to get it clarified.

Agree with above.

I think the reviews from the residents are the most credible, as far as them living/working in the program over time and being able to see all the in's and out's of a program. At they same time, the tend to be overwhelmingly positive and it is hard to to get a feel for their objectivity.

The rotating students' reviews, to me, just provide a limited opinion of what they happened to observe during their 2-4 week expereince. If the program is going through scheduling changes, or other growing pains during that particular month, then a rotating student can easily get a skewed view.

I have found the scutwork site to be of very limited use. Just my opinion though.

I was planning on doing on doing evals of the places I rotated, but since I might end up at one of them, I didn't want to have to write it up twice. My student reviews would be positive, but I agree they'd be more valuable coming from more experience.

As Quinn said, it's growing. I'm sure that all of us interns-to-be will go on in the next 6-12 months and juice it up some more.

In case you can't wait though, Allegheny General was a great rotation, and Pittsburgh as a city is better than you'd think.
