I looked around and found the updated IRC server for SDN.

You can access it via Mibbit.- You can either sign up or just hit launch app.

Scroll down the list and click Rizon as the server, and type in #SDN as the channel.

On Mibbit (any IRC client) you can register a nickname with a password through the channel so that you cannot be impersonated.

I hope this helps some of the people who asked about it 🙂

IRC also makes it extremely easy to find someone's IP address (it literally tells you).
It wouldn't be a problem for me but I know a lot of people are trying to keep their identity 100% anonymous.

Yeah that makes sense. They could always go through a proxy though? I think.

It seems to have quite a lot of people... dunno much about it...

Venom was hating on Habitat for Humanity? 😕

Either him or someone else in chat. I can't remember too much, except that when I went running the next day I was frustrated at someone hating on HfH, and that was the only time I've seen venom on chat.

I think someone goes in there and impersonates everyone.... I don't think Venom would say that.

It seems like I am the target for today. So sad. 🙁

I think someone saw your MDApps, got really jealous, and started to attack you. Pretty unfortunate. 🙁

Anyways, sorry OP. I'm not going to try another unofficial chat. I'm not a fan of unofficial chats, and the recent impersonation and attack on SDN members in chat rooms is a valid reason.

This one isn't like that, and you can register your nickname. I think most of the members aren't students anymore, also. Nothing like the chatzy crap

Sigh...haters be actin' mad though.

I think it was Josh7 that suggested an in-site chat widget that corresponds to our SDN account. I support that.

That would be one step closer to SDN Dating.

Huzzah!

It's easy enough for the network operators to hide IP addresses from showing up on a /Whois command. It's also possible to link your IRC nickname to a virtual hostmask with your SDN username upon identification with the nickserv to prevent impersonation.

No I've only gone there once with my real username. And never hated on habitat for humanity...

If I found out you EVER hated on HFH, I will personally volunteer 1k hours to redeem their name from the likes of you.

Anyone up for a quick chat session though?
