creating a "memory palace" to help store and retrieve information. My pops taped a diane sawyer where she interviews a memory champion and talks about how he stores information in his "memory palace". a mental reconstruction of a place you are very familiar with. place a visual representation of the information around it. my childhood room has pictures of pepsinogen cleaving to pepsin via hcl and a mural of the Precambrian to cenozoic timeline.

I did some research into that. It's fascinating if you can get it to work for ya, but I could never get it to work for myself. I just memorize, comprehend and spit it out. I can't "image" it...I think you need a "photographic" memory to really put it to full use.

So jealous of people that have photographic memory:laugh:

I have also seen this as well somewhere on TV, I have never been able to get it to work with me.

It seems you would have to spend a couple months retooling your brain to create a virtual memory palace.

I just go with the way that is most comfortable for me.

Yep, it isn't as easy as it sounds... Blah I wish it were!

I too have recently come across this and I must say this technique is impressive. I have never had an issue with imagination or perceptual ability therefore maybe that is why this technique works well for me. Then again, I've always had an ability to visualize my material so maybe I don't offer any valid points. lol

I just purchased this book, Moonwalking with Einstein (http://www.amazon.com/Moonwalking-E...229X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302277885&sr=8-1), in which a journalist first learns about the "memory palace" technique and is intrigued... and then a year later ends up winning the American Memory Championship. I wish I had this before the DAT! I mainly used associations for memorizing, but this strategy seems to take the core concept and maximize it using visualizations. I'm about 50 pages in, but so far it's pretty interesting, probably worth the read if you have the time...
