Hilarious!

I didn't agree with all of it, but I really enjoyed the "No, go do something else" comments. There are sooo many people here I want to tell that to....

ah, yes, i was quite fond of that list indeed. referring back to it even now as my TPR MCAT homework sodomizes me puts a smile on my bitter face.

one part i didn't remember that i just read was the "pre-med" shirt thing. we also have that at my school. seriously, i would rather be stung all over by wasps than be forced to wear such an emasculating garment for even ONE SECOND around someone who wasn't blind or severely ******ed. its just so pompous and presumptuous, like, "i'm going to med school, but i'm just not there yet." piss off, wanker!

Where's the mention of the kids who show up to class wearing scrubs pretending to be somebody?

btw, JKDMed, why don't you put that link in your sig? people need to read that stuff.

great point. when i see that and ask "what the hell?" the asnwer is usually something like, "i just got back from the hospital. i'm training to be a certified nurse's assisstant's assisstant." at that point, i am forced to wipe the vomit from my lower lip after laughing at them so damn hard. what i say is, "oh, i see," but what i'm thinking is, "where's your seltzer bottle, you clown? do you work at rodeos or carnivals? hopefully, your genitals will be ravaged with unrelenting std's."

i'm not bitter, though.

hey, why the hell am i posting so often, anyway?

Good idea.

In response to the post above yours, I actually saw a biology student go to lab in scrubs. Wtf?

i ruined a sweater or two in lab b/c i spilled some acid or base on it.. not that id ever wear scrubs but maybe that was that kids idea

I have a kid in my microbio lab that wears a lab coat and clogs. You know those ugly rubber shoes that some surgeons wear. The funny thing is that we sit down the whole time. And as for the lab coat, I have never seen a student wear a lab coat in four years. I don't even understand why the professors wear them when they teach.

i don't go to class in scrubs, but i admit, i have studied in scrubs before. i got them from when i was volunteering, and i just kept them and they're comfortable, but not that comfortable to make you fall asleep. just what i need during finals week. but for some reason, when i go to class, i like to wear actual clothes, just to make the profs. take me more seriously.

Just wanted to mention that some of us wearing scrubs to labs and classes aren't dorks. We don't have time to change after our jobs before classes. 😉

i know. everyone has their own mitigating circumstances. i'm just pissy and an annoying example came to mind. let's hear it for comfy clothes and congested schedules!

Bwah!

To the FAQ writers, good work.

Very amusing article 😛 😛
mmmm......nice to hear for once the bitter taste of reality. Nice to hear someone tell the true story behind all this.

As far a scrubs go, I kinda wish I had a pair for organic chemistry lab. Over two semesters, I lost about $80 worth of clothes to it when it would get eaten by various acids that we used. Free scrubs would have fit the bill nicely 😛

Based upon some recent experiences, I added a couple of things to the FAQ. Just so you guys are aware, I update it as I experience more things.

It is not solely premed related.

I'm sure there will be a huge influx of additions after I start the application process.

😍 That is so amazingly funny and accurate.

I definately think a sticky is in order.

As I wasn't a premed, I know nothing of tshirts. but when I was in med school, it used to crack me up when I would see guys working out at the gym in there scrubs, looking to pick up the easy to impress wanna be strippers... 🙄

They work out in their scrubs? Man, nothing like a big sweat line right up the crack ehh? Why not bring some shorts?

Who wrote this? I disagree with alot of these answers.

I wrote it, and of course you do. You're one of those people who is pretentious enough to put his entire application cycle outcome in his signature. I direct you to FAQ number 35.

Most of the answers are meant to be sarcastic...but frankly, I do feel like saying some of those things to people I've come across.

Indeed they did. quite amusing, I found.

I'm glad so many people are enjoying the FAQ. Just to let you guys know, there's more stupidity coming from me in the future. My friends and I are going to make a pre-med/med school related Kung Fu type series, spoofing the old kung fu movies of the past. I warn you, it's really stupid but I think you guys will like it.

So much of this is so true...

The other day I ran into this girl who was in some of my premed classes. People didn't like her because she had that "holier than thou" attitude that some premeds like to project. We have been done with undergrad premed classes for less than a year and she proceedes to tell me that she has spent an exhausting day "delivering babies" at the hospital. Well, it turns out that she is working as a nurse's assistant, but only an insanely competitive premed (who is actually out of school now) would think to put it like that!

Is it possible to find a med school without people like that?

When I was in medical school, we hung people like this from the flagpole and mocked them.

Of course, my class was known, erm, for its, ah, socializing... not our academics.

😀
