I was talking with some friends, and while we agree it is a great resource to have this website to answer questions and give us a heads up on interview/admission information, we decided it causes more problems than it solves. Nearly every thread, no matter how good intentioned it started, turns into a paranoid worry-fest. It seems everyone on here is obsessive compulsive and neurotic about this process. Please, take a look at what you are freaking out about and take a step back and try to relax. Being a bundle of stress isn't going to help you in your classes, won't help you at interviews, won't make you any friends, and surely won't make you happy.

Not everyone 😀

some of us can handle stress and thus not have the problems you cite. 😀 😎

Thats why I started posting in the lounge. At this point in the application process I don't know why the hell people are asking some of the $hit they do. I only glance at the pre allo forum occasionally to start trouble if the opportunity presents itself or comment on a post worthwhile (rare anymore).

I agree with you, but at the same time, if you can't worry about something that you've put this much effort into, what can you worry about? All I'm trying to say is that as much as it is not ideal, a great deal of us will be stressed, and our best coping mechanism for it is to talk about the process. After all, we'll probably all be seeing each other around soon enough!

my participation has dropped off tremendously of late. however, i think that has everything to do with the fact that im a little bummed out at the moment. i know it will eventually work out, things usually do. while im happy for all of you who are hearing back with acceptances, its not really what i want to be surrounded with, you know?

good luck all.

There's still a lot of time left and you seem like a pretty cool individual with good numbers.

I have faith in you, dude. 👍

I am sorry to hear that. You should realize that it is only December. A lot of the schools you've interviewed at are not rolling schools as you know. Besides, you have been invited to interview at excellent institutions. There are those who cannot claim the same. You are definitely going to get in to a medical school of your choice. And you know this isn't silly good will nonsense. I loathe you.

Actually SDN gave me some perspective.
I always had the idea that all people who get into med school have a 3.8 or above GPA and a MCAT score of at least 35. Hey, when I see some of the scores of the people on SDN who still get in I believe there is hope for me!

Don't worry Indy, we've noticed! 😉 All us neurotic, premed wackos will still be here for your enjoyment when you decide to come back.

Keep the faith, Indy!

In response to the OP, I think at least some of the neuroticism is venting because there's no one else to share it with. So all of our vague worries and stress get distilled into concentrated little quivering drops of OCD freakout known as "posts." In the real world, I like to think that most of us are reasonably stable individuals. 🙂

Indeed, it does help coping by allowing us to talk about the process. However, it sparks paranoia when uninformed people make opinion posts disguised as facts or paranoid premeds misunderstand the actions of a secretive admissions committee.

yes pre-allo sucks. LOUNGE ROCKS 🙂 😍
