i just blogged about facebooking a fellow tweeter that i found on myspace...and posted it in an online forum!

SDN forum has successfully distracted me so far. I don't want to get Twittered.

i still don't get twitter. they took 1 facebook function and built a website around it...

In some way it is just the status function, but used more effectively and efficiently in terms of creating a community and network. There are plenty of Drs, med students and health care professionals who tweet daily and share information, articles and help each other out.

I mostly wanted to see how us Pre-Allo's were interacting with twitter, if at all, since SDN recently announced it joined Twitter. So far, it looks like most people have no idea what twitter is or just don't care too much about it.

I was actually pretty surprised that so many people here had never heard of it. I've had the account since 2007, but even I was a late-adopter.

Clearly, those people don't spend enough time online.:laugh:

Haha! Definitely! They need to summon and foster their inner geek!

I'm surprised by that too. I brought up twitter last night and none of my friends knew what it was.

Its very strange, because twitter grew in popularity backwards. All the news networks like cnn and msnbc embraced twitter before average people did, so it doesnt have that huge grassroots base like facebook...

Which is even more surprising as it doesn't have nearly the bloat that facebook does.😱

I hate watching Rick Sanchez on CNN because he can't get through one sentence without mentioning Twitter

Twitter is only acceptable if you are either the president of the United States or a website. Everyone else on twitter thinks they are so important that I need to know that they are going to starbucks.

I like following @WilW, @FeliciaDay, and @LevarBurton.

My friends are on there and I have it set up to auto update my Facebook status. It's fun. Not functional yet. Definitely a good marketing tool though.

Have you tried Twitter? There is definitely more to it, as I mentioned before. Though I must admit, that some people do just post when they are heading to the bathroom and/or starbucks and such, which isn't so fun.🙂

Yeah one of my friends set it up for me, I started getting like 30 texts a day talking about heading to class or the grocery. It blew so I stopped using it.

Well that's that not exciting at all. It also depends on who you are following and what kind of info they are tweeting. Some people are better "twitterers" than others. At least you gave it a shot.

Call me an introvert (nobody would), but I feel as if I am already pompous enough by actually sharing my opinion as much as I do... The idea of constantly sharing the "news" that I am "now sharing my opinion at location x" is somehow just ******ed and way beyond self-absorbed to me.

there recently have been like 2-3 news articles about surgeons using twitter and text messaging to give advice to each other during procedures...but i wouldn't say "plenty" of them do it. i think it was reported because it was a rare and unusual means of communication, not because it's gaining user-ship for these purposes.

i don't know why but i feel like twitter is for older tech savvy "hipsters." as in older people who think it's hip to be on facebook/myspace/whatever and twitter.

What the hell is twitter?

Yeah......I only have one friend who uses twitter consistently (he uses it with Facebook). What a waste of space.

I would argue instead that Facebook is the waste of space. All I want to do is keep track of what my friends are doing. I don't need some massive, slow-loading website to do that.

lol. I made a note on my Facebook page stating just this and some stupid chick I went to high school with that does this exact thing all day long de-friended me on Facebook. I sent her a private message laughing at her for de-friending me, lol.

I find Facebook to be a waste of time as well. However, I changed the way I use Facebook. Now I use to to network only and just add good friends and family. This way I don't need to talk on the phone to family when I can be doing other stuff or when I just don't want to be bothered.

Thank God I'm not alone!

I've found that Twitter is an amazing broadcast medium and I find many healthcare executives using it almost daily. Most of these people work in health information technology (Health IT), so they are naturally more tech-savvy and inclined to adopt early technology.

Twitter is also being used by the CDC, the FDA, the WHO, and other major public health organizations. To be honest, it took me a while to get into Twitter, but now I see that it's a very powerful online tool.

f twitter and the self-importantism it promotes. yuck.

I am positively convinced that Twitter is just Satan in disguise.
