So at what time do most SDN users switch their status to "medical student" from "pre_medical"? After they start their first classes, or after they have fully committed their deposits and paperwork to attend?

I think most people will change it over when class starts. Some people on SDN will probably give you a hard time if you change it earlier. When someone asks you now what you do, what do you tell them? Do you say "I'm a medical student" or do you say "I'll be starting medical school in the Fall"? Probably the latter, right? That's why I think it makes more sense to wait.

I agree with the above poster. I will designate myself as a medical student once I start medical school this Fall.

Also, many that have been accepted put M-0, MS0 or something similar.
