How about:

1) listing the start date of a thread along with the name of the OP in the thread list

2) larger PM boxes, and a way to organize them into categories..or can we already do that?

3) when we get e-mails saying we have a PM or a ne wpost in a thread we subscribe to. send us the message not just a report that it's there. (if i have lots of work to do, I don't want to be tempted to start reading the board just b/c I have a message)

the search function- did I miss something, where did it go!?!

a feature to make it easier for users in the same areas to meet up and find each other. tying sdn to real life pretty much. optional of course

I know the DO foum has a match list link in the sticky.

PREALLO HAS ALL THE MATCH LISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are in the sticky with useful links. Its one of the sticky's that Phil Anthropist put at the top.

this may be a little too much but what about a personals forum? ppl. can meet pre-meds/docs etc in their area and make study groups, friends or bf/gf whatever.
maybe a general lounge too...so ppl. can post stuff about things that are not related to medicine but are interesting.

The lounge already is a "personal ad" forum 😉 Quite a few people have met and dated via SDN.

oops! just found the lounge 🙂 i looked briefly for one and just figured there wasn't one as ppl. put non med school related stuff on the pre-allo forum. my bad!

I have heard this from other sources. Look through the lounge. I've heard stories from others. Don't really know who exactly. But other posters have told me in the past, that this site has been a way that many people have met their significant others.

how about individual med. school forums? I know there are a lot but it would help organize all the threads into their respective subforums.

For many of the schools there would be many threads, for many of the lesser known schools there wouldn't be as many so there could be a general forum for asking questions about any med. school.

I suggested that awhile ago but they said too much sub organization is bad.

They have the C/O threads at the top of allo that you could post school specific questions in.

I still like southerndoc's idea of sdn email. Instead of PMs. Much easier. And accessible outside of sdn. I don't like to give out my personal emails so I think an sdn email address would be nice.

A personals forum sounds interesting. It could at least enjoy a test-run. I think a lot of people are intimidated by the strong personalities that frequent the Lounge, so they wouldn't post there if they really were looking for a date. Afraid of being flamed.

What about a forum for organized regional volunteering? We could organize blood drives, bake sales, concerts etc. It would help a lot of people get much-needed ECs, and it would of course be a great way to help get things done that need to be done. After Katrina a lot of us wanted to do something to help but couldn't go to the Gulf, but there were no central organized efforts.

I see a lot of, "Any people with noses out there?" or "Anyone else have a permanent rash on..." Are there forums for disabilities and minorities? I realize there are international forums, but this is only because they take up so much room. Creating 8million forums is bad for my eyes, but I'm tossing this out there in case it's not already and it's significant enough to be.

Caboose.

There isnt' really anything much to buy there with regard to tshirts etc...more female stuff.

we need some stuff!

I'd like to see more personalization options. We have to go offsite to post blogs, diaries, pictures, etc.. would it be impossible to allow SDN to be a blogspot? That would be neat.

Read the front page.

Since this thread isn't a poll, nor for "original ideas only", maybe my post is sharing my thoughts as an individual who wants more out of sdn. Sorry if that's a problem for you.

On the front page they have a link where you can get a blog on SDN.

Thats what I was referring to.

Ohhhhh... *embarssed*

THANK YOU. (Sorry)

You know how when threads get longer than so many pages (10 or 15 or whatever the cutoff is), and when you want to read the newest posts and you have to click on the link that says "Last Page?" Well, it would be much more convenient if the last 8 or 9 pages were clickable (as the first ones are now), and if you wanted to go back to the beginning of the thread you could click on a "First Page" link. I sometimes have to go back a few pages when I click on the Last Page link, because if there have been a lot of posts you have to go back and find where you last read. It's annoying to have to do that. 😛

Subscribe to select medical school interview feedback repositories. It would be nice to receive an email everytime someone posts a feedback to X medical school.

Yes! In fact this is really easy to use...everybody can have an SDN alias that just points to your real email address. You can configure that in your user settings.

[email protected] ---> [email protected]

No wait...even simplier. Provide a form to email someone who is a member of SDN. Each user must have an registered email address, so if I want to email "medschooldropout" then I get redirected to a webpage and upon submission the server looks up medschooldropout's email address and send the message.

It keeps everything anonymous and there is no reason to have separate sdn email messages (unless you want people to use their own email clients for emailing SDN members.)

make it easier to read all the interview feedback profiles.

for example med. school z has 56 interview feedback links, and you want to read them all. Right now the system is where you have to click each one individually, letting the page load, and once you're done you have to press back again. I think there should be some type of dropdown menu for each interview feedback link so that you can see all the text for the profile on the same page (OR you can click a profile link and on the profile page you have at the very bottom all the interview links)

2) Maybe there could be some type of reply to the interviewee (that posted the interview info) anonymously the way mdapplicants.com has for many people (it would be entirely optional for te person)
