Student Doctor Network is looking for what our users would like to see in improvements on our site. With the monies from donations this year, SDN has been able to upgrade the servers and is currently in process of updating the database server. We are working to improve SDN and respond to what resources the majority of our users wish to utilize (and of course make SDN more stable so there is no more crashing!)

In response to user requests, this year SDN has already implemented these changes:

• revamped its forums with the addition and reorganization of various forums and sub-forums,
• added the SDN bookstore, SDN store, and upgraded donor privileges to raise money for SDN,
• updated interview feedback forum,
• as well as added more partners in order to serve our users and provide them with the latest and greatest information on various fields (Such as McGill Journal of Medicine, painrounds.com, eyeorbit.org, d aMD-MBA.org)
• and much, much more!

So we are now requesting what YOU, as the user, to provide us with feedback and suggestions on what you would like to have in terms upgrades of features and format changes. Our goal is to have people from all walks of life contribute to SDN and help us to create an invaluable resource for pre-professional health programs through graduate school, practice specialties and beyond.

New forums/subforums for the unrepresented specialties/subspecialties. Many times I wanted to post a specific question about one of the IM subspecialties but such questions tend to be lost in the mix pretty quickly.

There are already so many forums on this site, why not just create the 10 or so for the rest of the specialties/subspecialties so we can get more specialized discussion going.

If you think the page would be too long, maybe each specialty could have a sticky note at the beginning of the forum instead of whole sub-forums.

I want an interview at UC-San Diego.

Can SDN help me with that?

mandatory tutorial on how to use the SEARCH function (when its actually working 😉 With a quiz when you sign up.

All useer accounts suspended until they go and complete this quiz.

I like to see the search function reinstated. It's helpful to be able to read the various posts and threads from a specific user and now it's gone! Please bring that back.

*************Search function will be reinstated when the new database server is up and running. Should be by the end of the month.**********

Another thing along the lines of searching. I'd like to be able to limit my search criteria to just a single thread or a single forum rather than search the entire SDN site. For example, it would be great to be able to search the IM Interviews Offered thread for "University of X." Or at the very least to search just within the IM forum for "University of X."

You can already do that with the pre-existing search function. When the search function is reinstated, try going to the thread or forum you want to search and look for the tab at the top right of the page, and you can search the specific thread or forum you're on.

Other suggestions/comments?

Also, what do other folks think about adding subspecialty subforums?

😎

Actually, I like the idea as well and was thinking the same thing a little while ago....true, I am "just" a medical student about to start residency next year, but am interested in GI and would like to post some Q's to GI fellwos out there, but these posts are "eaten" up really quicky in the IM forum....
